Our Nations Soul. This election is going to be a
a barometer of the state of our nations soul. If shrub is sent packing there will be hope yet for our country. The majority of the citizens understand the difference between right and wrong, good and evil. I would then have faith that we, as a nation, will come out of this whole.

On the other hand, if he is elected (for the first time) we will have begun the journey toward destruction and deservedly. On the face of it the public would have abandoned all that sets us apart. We will have traded our freedom for perceived safety and protection. A "Father" protect me attitude. The soul of the nation lost.

November 2nd.................Test day.

1. You speak the truth.
The next 4 and a half months will be historically critical.

3. wha tif it is stolen, like lst time...?
Then it would depend on the response of the people... I think it will lead to more and more McVeigh;s, insurrection and, eventually, civil war or/and WW III.

6. If it's stolen and everyone rolls over like last time
we are finished and another glaring example of what could have been.

Or for something that represents the ideals this country was founded on?

5. Unfortunately it is a battle for the brain

of America. The souls already degraded might be moved to redemption were the truth more available than the lies on not on an "equal footing".

Jesus could forgive all those that didn't know what they were doing. By that time he was on the cross. The idiots promptly forgot about him except for occasionally persecuting his converts. When Jerusalem was destroyed not many(survivors) remembered his prophecies.

What has changed over the milennia is access to truth and information and a decreasing lack of an excuse. The very simple fact that, despite having more online surfers, etc. etc., Americans are behind the learning curve on the news compared to sheep herders in Somalia is one of the threads holding the fabric of cognitive dissonance together.

Everyone thinks everyone except weird criminals and "strangers" are good souls, themselves naturally included. If you could define rules for that "good heart" such as the Bill of Rights. As it is, that mindset and self-satisfaction and kneejerk fear defense is exactly what is keeping W afloat.

Those who know and use their brain and destroy their careers to become Cassandras are those assailing the walls of this noble heartland as if they were the enemies- and have been labeled such.

7. even if we win, if it's close (which it will be) . . .
it still means that roughly half the country (or half the voters, anyhow) still support BushCo's view of the world . . . and, therefore, their own subjugation . . . and they'll still control the Congress and the courts and the media and the corporations . . .

8. At least we would have a fighting chance. I didn't say that...
if shrub loses we are in the clear. Only that there is still hope. I suspect it will get real nasty because his diehard supporters are rabidly fanatic and will try to destroy Kerry every step of the way and I think what they did to Clinton would look like a cakewalk.

10. Very true, Oz
....and what about the rest of the planet? I think most countries think bush stole the election last time and Americans have been unwitting particpants in this total abomination of foreign policy.

The world is anti-bush, not anti-American. If bush is actually elected this November that attitude may change.
