Forget it. You're wasting your breath. Many Bush supporters are just pissed when we rain on their Nazi Parade. No amount of reason or appeal to decency will get through to them.

2. That's not totally true. |

You might not be able to turn them into Kerry supporters, but you might be able to keep them home in November.
Bush's actions and words are strikingly dissimilar.
He ran on cutting spending and cutting taxes. His tax cuts expire, but he's spent faster than any President in history.
He ran on 'no more nation-building'. He's already done more nation-building than any President in history.
We suffered our biggest attack since Pearl Harbor on his watch. The buck stops where?
He turned a $250 billion surplus into a half a trillion dollar deficit, not even counting the $200 billion spent turning Iraq into a Shiite theocracy.
You might not be able to convince a conservative to vote for a liberal. But you might be able to convince them that Bush is worse than a liberal.

Many Republicans are angry about Bush's support for the assault weapons ban, his health care bill, nicer immigration laws, and tariffs.

once they say "Im a conservative and I love the Chimp" they've already backed themselves into a corner. From that point on its very easy to illustrate how Bush isn't a conservative (in the classic sense), and thus put them in a spot where they are actually defending classically liberal positions. They eventually wind up saying "Sept 11th changed everything" and "well I support chimp no matter what" as a "defense".

5. Make certain they live their lives pissed, then |
|
Never miss an opportunity to rain on their stupid-ass Nazi Parade.
A pissed republican is, at least for that time, paying attention. A complacent one is just another sleeping dufus.

7. I actually went to a lecture that explained how to talk to them. |
|
When you are talking to them find something you agree on and then use the word AND:
Stupid Repuke: Damn immigrants coming and taking our jobs!
You: I agree that the influx of immigrants is hard on our economy and what we could do is work with our fellow countries to improve their economic situations so their people can stay with their loved ones and still have a good life.
If you disagree with them it makes them feel wrong and they put up a barrier right away but if you agree with them then use AND they will listen more.

8. They don't want to debate |
|
My uncle-in-law who works for the Governator (I know, such shame) recently said in response to an anti-war protest I went to that, "They won't be allowing those for much longer." They don't want discussion, only domination.

11. Respectfully disagree--vehemently |
|
I will concede that the core of Bush's support are a waste of breath. However, those that are more moderate Republican than conservative (McCain supporters, typically) cannot stand Bush's policies on domestic issues, and while they probably supported the war in Iraq, are now scratching their heads and going :wtf: .
Reasoned, logical debate may not get them to run out and campaign for Kerry, but it will get them to either stay home, or vote third party. Persistent, reasoned, and logical debate could very well win them over to Kerry.
A blind man can see that another four years of Bush will be disastrous for this country--it is up to us to "lead the horse to water", as it were, and get them to drink.
