most of the media will too! You've seen it happen in the last 6 months or so.

9. Russert is a life long Democrat . . .
He also has no respect for bush at all. His father worked 2 jobs for 35 years to take care of the Russert household, that's what a hero is in his eyes. I stood between Tim Russert and Robert Reich at the John Kerry rally in Nashua NH. Tim was very excited about how Kerry was doing. He turned to me and said "Now that is what we need!". He has to stay very objective on Meet the Press . . . but make no bones about it. . .he does NOT support this administration. That is why he has been sooo tough but in a fair way . . . .

As President Bush put it, they are an exceptional "few bad apples" whose actions "do not reflect the nature of our country."

18. The Story Of His Father Is His Selling Point, Too...
I saw him on Larry King Barely Alive talk about his father and the chit chat got to the status of the Middle Class that Russert's dad grew up in. Russert almost got teary when he went into the "Greatest Generations" jag of GI Bill and working in the Steel Mill and supporting a family. Then King asked if that middle class can survive today. You could see Russert turn inward and first start in with the changes from an industrial to an information society and then said "even then, the middle class is in serious trouble today". This isn't a forecast from a man whose living in Bizarro world like a Novak.

Lots of people dig at Russert, but I think he's had to work extra hard at being balanced and tough. When he stings you, you feel it. He's got the facts and isn't afraid to put them in your face. For the past decade, we've lived in a world where the Reich wing has had a strangelhold on the political discourse and agenda...until just recently, I think Russert's adjusting to a new "reality" inside the beltway...as are many others. Kudos to CBS News that has, again, led the way in opening American media eyes to the elephants crapping in our tent.

12. Eh...he's a Libertarian...
guess he decided the tax cuts weren't worth it...tax cuts and minimal social services are generally the only reason Libertarians* side with Republicans. Most Libertarians think a return to unrestricted 1870's style capitalism (read: industrial serfdom) would be just grand, but they want to be able to smoke marijuana, buy whores, and have abortions, too.

*note the large "L". Small "L" libertarians (most particularly left libertarians, aka libertarian socialists) are closer to syndicalist anarchists, and should not be confused with the hordes of vaguely creepy individuals who subscribe to the economics of the Austrian school and probably masturbate while reading Ayn Rand.

when I'm tempted to make a 'me too' post, but Jesus H. Christ on toast points, Jerusalem -- this description of both libertarians and Libertarians made my skull ring. Thanks, man.

21. "probably"?? Ayn Rand is better than Levitra to a good Libertarian
You pegged them pretty well. No taxes, Why tax them for service they don't use, like firefighters, or roads in another part of the state (wonder how they feel about air traffic control?) and Oh, Yeah, repealing the dope laws would be good, why try to control what somebody puts in their own body? Oh, that spills over into manufactoring and product liability, too...Somebody's selling chalk powder as baby formula? Should have done your research, "Caveat Emptor", old sport, and no, they don't believe the government should regulate pure food and safe medicine, either. That costs MONEY, and that requires TAXES, and if they're gonna regulate medicine, then they'll probably want to regulate weed, too...

"Dope-smoking ReTHUGlicans" is how I see 'em.

26. Spotter's guide to the RandyLib
The RandyLib may be identified by its plumage: Sallow skin, sometimes with CRT burn, greasy hair, perpetual sneer.

Listen for its cheery warble, which often sounds like:

"Initiation of force!"
"Government WITH GUNS!!"
"All rights spring from the right to property!" and its mating call:
"Private property! Free enterprise! Moral argument!"

Direct contact with the RandyLib should be avoided, as it may induce dizziness and nausea.

I've always tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But maybe I'm just a little biased.
(Hint: look left)

Plus, I think he used to work for Mario Cuomo.

24. My thoughts exactly

Russet is ordinary.
Like father like son.
This is not worth the paper that it is written on.
Watch,it will be a best seller.

At any rate, maybe he was beating up on chimp because we Dems are in the book buying mode...Richard Clarke, John Dean etc.
He will not get my dime.
He is ugly and a whore for * but he was on target tonight.

22. On Charlie Rose
He is sounding like yet another Bush apologist. Sure he is not claiming Bush is a "Great Leader" but he is still pretending that the middle ground between Bush is doing he right thing and that he is not is somehow the "objective" position. If he can't see what a train wreck Bush's administration is then he is too blinded by the money that comes his way to be any use at all.

He did stuff that they would probably do if they had any imagination and the willing partner..They were jealous of him.. They are NOT jealous of widdle w..They feel sorry for him..:(
