our soldiers were told lies so they'd kill for Bushco |
|
What's so pathetic about all this, I'm realizing:
Our soldiers were told that the reason they were going to Iraq is because Iraqis were responsible for 9/11. They were told to torture prisoners, to get information so that another 9/11 wouldn't happen.
They were lied to. Over and over and over.
Furthermore, the military continues to call the insurgents "terrorists".
If I were a soldier, I'd be pretty fucking pissed off when I found the truth.
Have soldiers ever been lied to, in United States history, like this? In ANY war, ever?
It seems to me that this is new.
To me, this is a big deal.
Anyone?

...history is filled with fallen empires where this was done.

I can only think of the Southerners being told that yankees were eating babies and the like, but I'm trying to think of any other American war against foriegners where they were told outright lies to get them to kill.

3. The soldiers are not that naive |
|
Who the hell could possibly believe in starting a fucking war when the President is parroting 'Saddam must disarm, Saddam must disarm,..." and there haven't been any arms found? The UN asks for 90 more days, and again we hear, "Saddam must disarm...".
Why aren't all those brave soldiers laying down their arms and refusing to fight, now that they know the truth? Maybe they're not so brave after all.

Have left for Canada.
I SALUTE YOU NOBLE SOLDIERS.
It is a true man who fights for values he believes in and refuses to fight for those he does not.

5. A steady stream of propaganda |

comes with the territory when you're in the service. In 1962 I remember being fed quite a bit of it supporting our actions at that time. We were shown films of student protests against the bombing in Cambodia. The camera would zoom in on someone in a crowd and the narrator would describe the person as a "known communist."
The one statement I remember was that if we didn't intervene in Vietnam, as many as 50,000 South Vietnamese would be killed in the Communist takeover. We lost 58,000 of our own in that "police action."
