Bush praising Rumsfeld to high heavens = Rummy will fall on sword. |
|
They're going to ask Rummy to "decide" to go to please Lindsey Graham and others nauseous (sp?) Republicans. That'll cool the investigation and we won't find out about (Cheney's ?) mercenaries who are involved in this thing.

especially the part about doing everything they can to protect the $100,000,000,000 private mercenary army.
That's job #1 for the BFEE right now. Everything and everyone else is "fungible"

3. If there is a reson to boot Rummy... |

That would be the one. But he is a PNACer so, perhaps he would be given some kind of "behind the scenes role". Lets face it Shrub is just the dummy, the PNACers are the ones pulling the strings. And Cheney is the one who has his hands.....ummm never mind...

4. None of them looked the least bit happy today |
|
when they walked out for the press conference. They're waiting for the polls.
BTW, did anyone notice on the Daily Show the shot of Cheney's eyes going back and forth from Bush to his speech?

Nonsense. Get Rummy, and you follow the path to the top |
|
Why the pessimism? Bush is political toast.

2. Rummy will go, he will need the time to organize his defense, |
|
and we will get to the bottom of this story. Just watched Tim Russert of Larry King and there will be no turning back until whoever authorized the torture is revealed and prosecuted. They both even talked of the importance to change the government in order to reclaim world respect. This has the same feel as Watergate!

6. Haven't you figured them out yet? |
|
nobody's falling on their swords. this is the inner circle. the masters of the universe. why would Rum fall on his sword? who are they trying to save face for? they don't care what you think. they don't care what anybody thinks. they're not sweating this scandal. they're not sweating Iraq, and they're not sweating the upcoming election.
they WILL go down. but it'll be out of their own hubris - not anything voluntary.

9. I think Kerry ought to pour it on . . . |
|
DEMAND Rumsfeld's resignation, over and over.
Rumsfeld will have to stay, to keep it from looking like the administration knuckled under to Kerry.
Rumsfeld staying is good for Kerry by contrast and for how all of this looks to the world.

10. Bush really means it, he has no plans to get rid of him |
|
The strategy is very very linear and totally predictable. NEVER admit failure, never change your mind, never reevaluate and make corrections. The only people who have left this administration are people who weren't team players.

I hope he doesn't.

12. Disagree. Rummy's resignation would have two effects that I'm sure |
|
Bush's advisers can see clearly:
1. Since he was an architect of the Iraq invasion strategy, it will be tantamount to an admission by Bush that the strategy was fucked from the beginning.
2. It will be seen as a sign of weakness, and like sharks sensing blood in the water, it will only encourage the regime's critics.
Rummy's resignation is wishful thinking, but I hope you're right.
