1. I'm feeling real depressed by all of this. |
|
Whether it is the war killings or the prison abuse or the Berg killing, we are all using it to promote our side. I long for the days when there was something else to talk about.

11. He was setting up antennas as part of the rebuilding process. |
|
He also was generally opposed to the war in the beginning.
I get the idea that the guy really just wanted to help.

9. The guy who sawed off Berg's head with a knife is whiter than Berg |
|
Edited on Tue May-11-04 03:51 PM by Walt Starr
Look at his hand compared to Berg's face. You can see Berg's face get whiter as his head gets cut off and the guy who did thye cutting still has a whiter hand than Berg's face.
These were not Arabs who murdered Berg.

I didn't watch the entire video, but the man on the far right, in particular, is very light-skinned. I came across this thread right after it was posted and since this was my first time on DU today, I didn't know what was going on. When I started watching the video, the nationality of the people involved was not clear to me. Berg looked like he could have been Iraqi and the killers could have been "white."
This is horrifying, but also seems very fishy, as to who is actually responsible.

10. Question...is this actually on the Homeland Security site here in the US? |
|
I asked this on the other post, but it appears a second thread was started, so I'll ask it on this thread......
I don't plan on watching the video, so I'm not going to click on the site....but, I'm just wondering why in the world would the US govt. put this video on a govt. site. Without question, it was a horrible thing to happen to anyone, but why put it on a govt. site......even though it is real, it sounds like govt. propaganda to me. Trying to divert attention from the all issues surrounding the white house.

12. I should have heeded the warings from thread #1. |
|
My husband and I watched. I think it was worse knowing what was going to happen but it gave me the opportunity to turn away. How dare George stand up and say we are safer.
I am sure that Imhofe will want this publicly released when the abuse photos are released. I guess our new standard is to compare our torture with terrorists and Saddam so we don't look so bad. What a sorry ass standard of comparison.
Rot in hell Imhofe. You are part of the problem.

Iraq, Bush and America. Guess they are the same in any language.
I hope we aren't trying to get into a contest of who can be nastier!

21. I understand that the slain young man... |
|
...was in Iraq seeking work to set up communication systems. So he was a techie. Why did the US have him in custody for 13 days? What had he seen? Did he facilitate an electronic communication that the US didn't approve of? I know that this sort of atrocity happens, but I find the circumstances remarkably odd.

22. These guys were dressed rather odd |
|
I watched the video. Very disturbing.
What are the costumes these guys are wearing? They are all dressed in black with something yellow on their chests. All of the thousands of photos I have seen coming out of Afghanistan and Iraqi, I have never seen anyone wearing anything like this before. Shiite Muslim militiamen loyal to radical cleric Moqtada Sadr wear black, but they don't look like these guys.
We all saw lots of photos of bin Laden and his followers. I don't remember any of them dress like these guys.
Is this suppose to be some sort of a new group?
