4. It's difficult to say...BDUs don't have stripes on the sleeves, they are

on the collar, or in the case of a field jacket, on the epaulets. If he is wearing a field-jacket (not sure why, I think that would be hot in Iraq), then the gold on his epaulets could be a 1st lieu. bar or major oak cluster. Of course, it could be unit insignia as well. Picture's too fuzzy to say for sure if the guy is an officer or not. It might be a mustard stain for all we know.

In BDUs officers don't wear gold or silver rank except on your cap. If this guy is a second lieutenant or a major, he'd wear brown rank; any other officer would wear black rank.

Forget what rank this man is wearing and look at his uniform: It's green. All the other Americans in that picture are wearing tan uniforms. He's also wearing a hat and a blouse, whereas all the other Americans have neither.

This person is coming from a command that's not working in Iraq. Possibly the Pentagon. Elsewhere'sDaughter saw something really big here, just not what she thought she saw.
