Well, they did it. They were able to do it again....
The Berg video has now bailed out the Bush administration's bungle-f**k in Iraq.

4. He believes...
As many believe, that this is going to rile up the racist fundie wackos in this country to a greater extent. I think this is true. However (in my opinion) all of those jerk-offs are already going to vote for Bush anyway. The real question is what this does to people who haven't made up their minds yet. My guess is that it'll push them away from Bush.

5. I think so, too.
Especially when Berg's father gets some press time with the story of how our own military kept him there.

6. I just seen the clue coming out of Saxby Chambliss's mouth on Hardball
he said the latest video showing Berg getting beheaded should "now help to re-focus our efforts and provide more support for the war on terrorism"

In other words- enough about all this talk and hearings about how we f**ked up in Iraq, see how bad these guys are?

9. I think that it will continue to hurt
any swing and moderate voter who is not attached to the hip for the * will start to think that anything is better than what we have right now, and more than a few will see this "execution" the tape of a man being beheaded on TV as a failure to contain the blood and gore of war. These people want to be protected from what their gov't is responsible. This makes them feel part of it and it does not make them feel warm and fuzzy.

14. I think it adds to the negative malaise of Bush's failed war
but won't involve impeachment in this Congress. The War President has screwed up mightily and there's no good way for him to spin this to make people feel safer or that he's doing a good job.

beheading was the result of Bush's policies he would not gain a damn thing from this. We could actually turn it against him.

Where are they? Godamm it. We have been brutally jerked around , both emotionally and practically and what has happened? We get namby pamby senators almost trembling in their seats before they would accuse Bush of incompetence.

We get stupid and his stupid fat assed, frump going on their photo ops raking in millions of dollars, as if they were the King and the Queen of the United States, elected by the people.

We must suffer their lies and their obscene photo ops and we can expect that their two obscene progeny will soon be added to this obscene play acting also. Please spare us.

I am sick of it~~~~ It has become evil and obscene and extremely hurtful and destructful to this country

who told Nick Berg to go to Iraq?

Why was he there? Money? Greed?

I've read that his father is anti-war but Nick was a Bush supporter.

20. It does not matter
Edited on Tue May-11-04 07:21 PM by Marianne
the point is that Bush and his minions will exploit this to appeal to the fear and emotions of weak Americans who are most evident in our congress.

And if we see the same vengeful feelings in evidence, due to the stirring up and appeal to the reptillian brains of people who cannot and do not actually think , but merely react with their guts, we will see more and more of these horrors. This cannot be tolerated--to save our sanity and our country.

We are being jerked around.
We do not need to stand for this.

We are the only ones who can stop it.

No one else can. No one else wants to, because to do so would cost them their livlihood.

We must begin to speak more loudly and take our pitchforks out, duly sharpened

We cannot tolerate this any longer. It is obscene. We as citizens of this country cannot tolerate this crap any longer.

We have trashed human life and we have killed them simply because they were in the way. Ten thousand or more of them--on the lies of a stupid , delusional man. and it was done in our name.

what on earth keeps us from taking to the streets?

we do not need to suffer this. We do not need to suffer this crap.

we will not suffer this crap from a delusional, stupid man who is just a despicable man.

Why are we? He is simply a despicable worst president we have ever had to suffer.

Storm the bastille!

13. No, no, no ...
This ugliness just adds to the stinking morass that is America in Iraq.

It has been bad enough getting any more investment into Iraq since the intifada started last month. Blogs from folks in Iraq tell us that many foreigners are leaving. I read that more and more Iraqis are afraid to leave their homes - night OR day.

No, this is bad, very bad for Bush and his occupation. This is bad for Bush trying to claim that he is making America safer. This is another defeat for Bush and his "war on terror." (Especially since the Berg family has come out and blasted the Bush regime for letting their son be detained for no reason in Iraq for fifteen days.)

April and May are turning out to be the months from hell for Bush ... Unfortunately, it is regular US military, the Iraqi people, and American taxpayers who are paying the price. And Bush and Cheney and their cronies are laughing all the way to the bank.

30. that's why we're starting to see things like beheadings
we're going to see more of it.

If Bushco can get more support for his "war on terror" without having to have an attack here and calling off the election, well, that's what he'll do.

Expect more atrocities from "our enemies" in the coming months. Probably anywhere BUT here.

Disgusting business, this.

16. The sheeple
who watch that video and see a 'Murikan's head picked up and shoved in front of the camera will have nothing but hate and blood lust in their vengeful hearts. This will be shrub's excuse for a "wake up call" to all his loyal followers. The neocons will use this...they will say "see what animals the terraist are? you can't make deals with them, you can't do anything but exterminate them. we need more troops, more funding, we need to escalate the terra alert to orange..the terraist could bust in to YOUR house and chop off YOUR head next!"

19. Too early to tell. The "man on the street" interviews I saw on the local
news (Philly area), seemed to suggest that most people thought it was retaliation for the US prisoner abuse photos. If that perception is common, it may dig a deeper grave for Bush. But it's too early to tell. The media spin machine isn't quite geared up on this one yet (other than cutting out the father's anti-Bush statements-- but that was a no-brainer)

22. this doesn't help bush at all, in fact,
we all knew that there would be some sort of retaliation for what our soldiers did to those prisoners. I was just talking to someone the other night who said we are gonna get hit bad...over and over again. We need new leadership so bad at this point. Bush is incompetent to handle this and he basically is clueless on how to be President.

No way...I see this as another negative for HIS war and people are FED UP with the lies and excuses. People are recogninzing that this war was all for NOTHING!

27. "Hmmm," my spreading derriere!
This was simple cause and effect. They saw the torture photos and one-upped us, but in such a way that the Arab world would understand that they are far more merciful than we.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, it is RACIST to believe the "brown people" can't do anything unless we tell them to or show them how.

But WE can't be racists, can we? Not here. Not us. No, no, that subtle poison is only something THEY suffer from.

Yeah, right.

29. I would respectfully submit
that the important issue is that now there's a dead guy who's been brutally murdered, and it's absolutely heinous.

I think that "The Berg video has bailed out the Bush administration on Iraq" is kind of missing the boat here.
