I wish Kerry could inspire me the way Wes Clark does when I hear him speak on the issues.

I guess the choice this November is between neo-fascism or a conservative Democrat. A no-brainer.

2. Thanks for your vote for Kerry but maybe whomever Kerry
picks as his running mate, that person will inspire you, hopefully.

3. Lieberman, Breaux, Bayh and Ben Nelson are conservative Democrats
Kerry is in the mainstream of the party.

7. Yes he did
and so did Ted Kennedy. Some conservatives voted no due to issues pertaining to immigration, national sovereignty and their preference for isolationism and protectionism. NAFTA didn't really break down along liberal/conservative lines.

4. Keep thinking "MUST VOTE FOR THE NOT-BUSH"
That's how I deal with it.

Hell, even if the Democratic Party was stupid enough to nominate an actual stinking pile of dog shit, I'd have to go with the poo over Bush or any other choice that stands no chance this year.

9. As much as I hate to, I agree with you. He has a lot of the so-called
'negative qualities' as Al Gore. But the horrible fact is that a huge number of people aren't interested in intellect, ability or statesmanship; they want idiots to be their leaders. A manifestation of one form of projection I can only presume.

Clinton was the first president to be younger than myself - as he ran and was elected, that fact was a somewhat ongoing shock to me and subsequently I began to grasp another trusim: there are people who're actually fearful or suspicious of someone smarter then themselves. Af it were some kind of contest. I'm no psychologist, but I think I can get some handle on the mindset.

10. Who cares. He's all there is.
I don't mean to be as insensitve as it sounds. But your choices are Bush or Kerry.

Given the choices, I think Kerry is the right one. Yes, my vote will be more a vote against Bush that for Kerry, but its still the right thing to do.

11. I for one, am taking no prisoners
You absolutely cannot play the game of being fair-minded at this time. We are basically in a general election campaign and you're either for the forces of goodness and light, that is Kerry, or you're for the forces of evil and darkness, Bush. I'm all thru being 'fair' when a prick like Racicot (pronounces 'roscoe' which is about right) says anything he likes, no matter how fallacious, well the hell with fair. I grew up in a household where the tacit assumption was that "it could happen here" and it has.

As Eliot Ness said, "No deals." No Repubs, no matter how 'reasonable' or 'progressive', or 'voting for israel', or anything. No way no how.

Kerry's voting record is generally liberal, similar to that of his more senior colleague, Edward Kennedy. Americans for Democratic Action, a liberal political group, gave Kerry an 85 percent rating in 2002 and a 95 percent rating in 2001. Kennedy, by comparison, got 100 percent in both years.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/special/president/candidates/kerry.ht...

The same group gave Kerry a 93% lifetime rating, Ted Kennedy got 88%.

For more than 30 years, the standard method for gauging ideology has been to use the annual ratings of lawmakers' votes by various interest groups, notably the Americans for Democratic Action (ADA)...

The ADA, which describes itself as "the nation's oldest independent liberal organization," was founded in 1947 by a group of distinguished postwar liberals -- including Eleanor Roosevelt, labor leader Walter Reuther and historian Arthur Schlesinger -- to rally support for progressive causes...

Kerry's voting record is a very liberal one, according to both rating systems. The ADA's Web site notes that "those Members of Congress considered to be Moderates generally score between 40% and 60%." By that criterion, Kerry's record falls well outside the "moderate" range....

In recent weeks, a number of commentators have asserted that Kerry's voting history is complicated to classify. The evidence doesn't bear this out. If you were to take the numbers shown here, cover up Kerry's name and then ask a sample of American political scientists, "I have here a senator who in the past 10 years has had an average ADA score of 92 and an average ACU score of 6. Is he a liberal, a moderate or a conservative?" they would have no difficulty in classifying the 2004 Democratic candidate as, for better or worse, a liberal.

22. I'm pretty much with you. Kerry should be all over this and instead he's
like a really tall invisible man. Disappointing. Hard for me to get fired up about him. I really want to be more involved but it doesn't even seem like he's trying very hard. I hope he picks up Wes for Veep so I can be inspired and enthused again.
