conspiracy theories abound. well no frikkin' wonder!
we can all make the crazy sign and roll our eyes when someone happens to mention odd things about certain events. 9-11, jfk, anthrax, lee harvey oswald, berg, torturegate. it's no wonder folks are cracking up with theories.

who's fault it that? bushco. they are the most corrupt and secretive and arrogant bunch ever. this shit is all just happening, new horrors coming out every day, we should investigate all angles while it's fresh in our heads. and if that involves the occasional unproved theory, or wild speculation, so what?

all this info is now available on the amazing internet. i wish we'd had it during the jfk investigations. today, we have digital cameras, world wide access to info, and theorists of all stripes.

making fun of 'conspiracy theorists' is fun, but remember, some of the most unbelievable theories have turned out to be true. history is happening right now, this period will be studied intensely, and we can all play detective and transcribe all the info for history.

1. Beware of Lord Keepers of the Official Version
Edited on Fri May-14-04 07:12 AM by gandalf
See this question in the AtA forum:
"Can we have a new forum? Someplace to stick wacko Berg video :tinfoilhat: stuff?"

For me this is an attempt to have GD "cleared" of "conspiracy" theories. Or censored.

3. Skepticism is healthy, and I don't understand why some folks here

on DU so quick to ridicule and quash any conspiracy stuff. If the * is willing to lie and fabricate on such minor things when there is no need -- British plane sighting of AF1 on fake turkey day, or CNN reporting that Letterman edited in the sleepy boy in Bush's speech -- then why is a faked video of a beheading so out of the question to get our mind off of torturegate?

4. Skepticism demands questioning
A skeptic is not satisfied with someone simply telling them that something is true or false and expecting the to accept it on their say so. They research every aspect of the claim they can get their hands on. If it does not meet a satisfactory criteria then they do not give their acceptance of the claim. Nor do they jumpt to conclusions.

You investigate until you find enough evidence to conclude one way or the other.

5. And exercize a little critical thinking
instead of automatically accepting the official spin.

... especially at this stage of the game, with the record of lies and deceptions of the past 3 years--(in addition to outright lying about issues related to this particular event, in conflict with the Berg family evidence), how anyone can NOT question it is what is outrageous.

6. I agree
I've been reading and researching myself. Your right, what the hell do they expect when we have been lied to over and over again? I'm not going to just believe anything they throw at us. People that have given us the Patriot Act 1 and 2
Yea, right, like I should trust whatever they say....I don't think so! Americans don't walk in lock-step we aren't good little brown shirts drinking the kool-aid. One other thing, I see a pattern these people always project on others what they are usually guilty of their selves.

I'm also waiting for what will be thrown at us today? It's Friday you know it ought to be released late afternoon.

I say, 'Eyes and Minds Open' No Justice, No Peace! is not a cliche.

8. to just dismiss off hand
alternative possibilities to the official versions of events is to ignore history.
It seems to me that as a rule "official versions" are BS.

Unknowing Americans injected with plutonium
Gulf of Tonkien
The bombing of Cambodia
Chile, assassination of Allende
Watergate
Agent Orange
mining of harbors in Nicaragua
Iran/Contra
Kuwait-Incubator babies
Pentagon denies troops exposed to chemical weapons in Gulf War I
"safe air" at ground zero
WMD

I could go on for pages with examples of official versions of things which were proved to be complete lies.

"official version" usually means: propaganda, damage control, and spin.

rule of thumb: question everything
