This company supports the liberal cause - support them!
As a non-US resident I have no information about companies who support the liberal cause. To demonstrate my ignorance I assumed that Heinz supports Kerry, which a fellow DU:er corrected.

With this thread I wanted to start a positive thread where people can name companies who try to make a difference.

Also, since I am not a donor I can´t search for this topic but I will be donating in this current drive to support this fantastic site.

1. Sonic (of drive-up hamburger fame)
donates heavily to democrats.

and Lowe's is decidedly better than Home-Depot in this department.

also, this has already been done: there is a list on the net that someone here can point us to.

2. Tricky
One problem with this question is that many companies will donate to both democratic and republicans as a means of hedging their bets (which is why Bush could say, decietfully but accurately, that Ken Lay gave money to Ann Richards campaign. He had, but of course had given more to Bush).

Ben and Jerry's, of course. And Ani DiFranco has pretty much total control over her albums and is a passionate liberal voice.

4. Costco?
I have the idea from stuff I read on DU that the founder gave lots of money to some anti bush organization and that they got slammed by the WSJ for treating their employees too well. Don't know for sure, though.

7. The Company . . .
that I work for almost 30 years, American Express, supports the Dems as well as advertises on Air America. Everyone should apply for the Card today!

I sent an e-mail to CEO Ken Chenault thanking him for his support of Air America.

8. Well, hooray!
I love American Express and use it for almost all my financial transactions. I'm delighted to hear that it's a Progressive company.

10. Lender's bagels
I was reading an article a while back about big donors here in CT and how nobody was approaching them because of Lieberman (this was before the primary season started...) and they had mentioned Murray Lender of Lender's Bagels in the article.

So, now if the genero brand of bagels is sold out in my local grocery store, I make it a point to buy Lender's instead of other brands.

12. You have a star. Doesn't that mean you donated? You should
be able to do a search.

I am kinda new myself, so I am not quite clear on that.

Wanted to respond to your request on the previous thread but couldn't for the life of me think of anyone but Ben & Jerry's and Working Assets Long Distance~ had totally spaced on the MoJo 400, as mentioned by JohnLocke above~ EXCELLENT source!

And it's also kinda nice to see a positive thread around here, in light of the recent issues which have taken up (deserved) so much space.

16. WORKING ASSETS is a phenomenally great long distance company.
Started by Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry's (Ben also started True Majority and Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities).

I've used Working Assets for a few year now. Not only are they cheaper than anybody else, but they're more responsive and more honest.

PLUS, they donate a percentage of every payment to progressive organizations. Each year they let their subscribers vote on which organizations should be supported and what percentages they should receive.

It is a model company, in the same way that Ben & Jerry's, when it was owned by Ben & Jerry, was regularly voted the best place to work in America.
