Fringe-right WV columnist defending Lynn England

First he gives us this attempt last week to play the little harpy as a victime by giving her the cutesy nickname 'unlucky lyndie"

"Waiting for Lynndie’s
side of the story
Since when is humiliation
worse than mutilation?"
by Don Surber

Unlucky Lynndie England. She is the girl in the photo aiming at the genitalia of naked inmates at Abu Ghraib prison.
A New York Times reporter ain't gonna write her autobiography. The state Democratic Party ain't gonna supply her with a lawyer named Goodwin. "People" magazine ain't gonna take her to White House Correspondents dinner.

Unlucky Lynndie is the anti-Jessica Lynch.

The latter is blonde, the former brunette. The latter wants to be a teacher, the former plucked chickens. The latter joined the Army to get a job, the former really wanted to be a soldier.

Look, I know what sort of column I am supposed to write. I am supposed to denounce Unlucky Lynndie.

Certainly, I do not like what I see in the photos.

It is as if the late Robert Mapplethorpe got another government grant, this time to visit Iraq.

But just as I could not bring myself to write a Jessica Lynch column a year ago, I cannot bring myself to denounce Unlucky Lynndie.

It is not a matter of not wanting to pile on. I can be as impolite as the next guy.

No, it is a matter of the truth. Just as tall tales of Jessica Lynch vaporized a year ago in the light of day, this story may have holes in it.

(interestingly, mr surber was one of the first to spread these 'tall tales' of jessica lynch last year. as w.v.'s local coulter wannabe and author of columns such as "confederates were really liberals" and stuff like that, he has no interest in the reporting the truth)
-------------------------
he's at it again last week. this guy's stupidity continues to floor me

"Lynndie England
may have a defense
Pictures may be
worth 1,000 words,
but they can also lie"

If humiliating prisoners of war is "torture" and an "atrocity," then what pejorative remains to describe the beheading of a person?
The decapitation of Nicholas Berg by his captors reminds us of just what we are fighting.

We are fighting cretins who pushed an old man in a wheelchair off the Achille Lauro.

We are fighting cretins who strap bombs on children and have them blow up other innocent people.

We are fighting cretins who have no respect for Western religions and blow up restaurants during Passover.

We are fighting cretins who have no respect for Islam by hiding in mosques.

Two wrongs do not make a right. But let's get real. What Americans consider prison abuse is routine to the enemy.

Hearing both sides of the story is also the American standard. My call to wait until hearing from West Virginia's own Lynndie England proved correct.

This week, she gave KCNC-TV in Denver a plausible explanation for some of the photos. They were used to show those under interrogation what could happen to them."

2. What is routine??
What Americans consider prison abuse is routine to the enemy
I don't think what went on was routine in Iraq. They did not react like this is what they do everyday... What an idiot
