Ha, the Weekly Standard is saying this is America's war, not Bush's

Their latest article states
http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/004/095tzpqo.asp

It's America's War But too many Democrats think it's Bush's war.

. . .

Because of Abu Ghraib, America is (temporarily!) down and out and getting kicked in the head by every two-bit moralizing moron in the universe, while her thoughtful Euro-friends twist the knife by informing us that hundreds of dead American soldiers might just as well have stayed home; America's rule is no better than Saddam's. We need to hear from America's political leaders, loud and clear: "Yes, we abominate the Abu Ghraib crimes but will not accept your forgetting what America has paid to liberate Iraq, will not allow foreign nations to slander the United States, will not permit you to forget what we and the British have accomplished: a world without Saddam Hussein; a vastly safer, profoundly better world. And no one will be allowed to dishonor American soldiers and this nation by telling us 'you're just as bad as Saddam'; that lie will never go unchallenged."

We need to hear those things especially from Democrats. For the world to know that this nation is united, Democrats have to speak. They haven't. The message has not been delivered.

So BushCo now wants Democrats to pull his testes out of the fire and is telling us it is our responsibility to do so.

Any volunteers?

1. I'm sure Joe Lieberman is ready to comply with their request
Edited on Sat May-15-04 08:49 PM by thebigidea
Reading the article now, boy - they seem really desperate. Calling their opponents fools and morons...

Who's the fool here, Weekly Standard? Those that said no to your little imperial endeavor?

Or Mr. Kristol?

4. lol, yea right
Weekly Standard writers seem to have become delusional in the face of Bush's numbers sinking as if in quicksand.

Next they will be saying it was Kerry's idea to start the Iraq war, instead of just voting for it.

Nope, Bush and the GOP are gonna get hammered in Nov. over Iraq, and nothing they can do about it.

5. The gang of bozos at the weekly standard
vainly attempting to sound the trumpet "charge" when the rest of america is sounding the "retreat".

Funny. Smirky's minions are scattering like roaches when the lights are turned on.

6. It wasn't America's war when we were marching against it.....
and were ignored by Bush and the Neo-cons. Now, it's America's war? I don't think so. It is George W Bush's War and his supporters. We thought it was wrong before the invasion. Why should we have to change our minds now???

8. Right, and Bush did not say we will stay the course, he said I will
In every speech it was "I" this and "I" that. Well this is this War President's mess.

That "I" of his never included non-Republicans.

13. Ooh, I love that!
We noticed it, too.

He was always saying I will protect you, or I won't back down or whatever.

OK, you said what Rove told you to say so you'd seem like a real father figure, but now it's all yours.

Pity. I think more people now more than ever know 'liberation' is a LIE and a BERATION against them.

10. I believe this is what is known of as revisionist history.
According to a CBS News Poll conducted on 3/16/03, 49% of Americans said they wanted to give the UN more time and 46% said invade soon.

According to a Zogby Poll on 3/15/03, when asked if they knew that it would result in hundreds of US casualties, 46% supported the war and 47% opposed it.

This is Bush's War. He went in with the support of maybe 50% of the country and this is the result. That doesn't make it an American war, but a Republican led war.

16. Wow...what a lotta chutzpah.
Weekly Standard was the cheerleader in getting this war on. I recall how they ridiculed the anti-war movement back in 02 when we were warning that this would be another quagmire and that we would end up facilitating the creation of a pan-Islamic ME.

Next thing you know, the WS will be asking us to vote for Bush in Novemeber because h really should be king.

Of course, if the war had been prosecuted successfully, I have no doubt that Iran and Syria would be in the Pentagon planning stages for invasion and occupation as well.

Looks like PNAC's Pax Americana will end 98 years short of the goal. Amazing how such a small group of men could hi-jack US foreign policy and destroy our international reputation and the projection of US strength in 2 short years. Unbelievable.
