Bush In New Haven Next Weekend
Plans Private Dinner In Honor Of Daughter's Yale Graduation

NEW HAVEN -- President Bush will be in town May 23 for a private dinner with family and friends but won't be attending his daughter's graduation at Yale University the following day, a White House spokesman said Friday.

Bush's twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna, graduate within days of each other, at Yale and the University of Texas at Austin respectively. But the president and first lady won't be attending either graduation ceremony because they want to save other parents from the hassle of extra security checks, said Jim Morrell, a White House spokesman.

Instead, Bush and his wife, Laura, will join family and friends for a private dinner for Jenna in Austin on May 22 before flying to New Haven for the next day's dinner for Barbara. Morrell declined to name the dinner guests, who may include Bush's father, former President George H.W. Bush.
