1. What he did is certainly deserving of the medal |
|
That's an incredible bit of bravery. i don't think we should be there, so please don't take this as support of war in Iraq. Merely pointing out that what the marine did was f-ing heroic and deserving of recognition.
I sure wish the article writer could have been less jingoistic and assinine, though. Geez, what an obviously "America love it or leave it" rube.

2. Sure sounds like a credit to the corps. |
|
Too bad the Chimp-in-Chief is a disgrace to the country, and uses troops for props and politics.
The bravery and sacrifice would be better placed in Afghanistan, getting the perps of 911.

4. Aye, you are very correct |
|
But apparently, though we had to go into Iraq because of its tied with Al Qaeda, it's not important to actually go after Al Qaeda, nor to find Osama.
But then again, we aren't looking for Osama because he's probably been at kennebunkport since soon after 9-11, or maybe even before. But that's just my half0in-jest tinfoilhat idea i've had since about 9-12.

5. Ummm....they were shooting at his men.... |
|
what was he supposed to do, let them die?
Being in the military, even if the war is wrong, does NOT mean that you're obligated to commit suicide, does it?
If he had shot 20 unarmed women and children, OK, that would be worthy of heavy scorn and a war crimes trial. But killing 20 armed enemies who are trying to kill you and your men, at great risk to yourself? That's heroic.

6. Personal honor in combat is to be commended. |
|
That is one seriously motivated Marine. Of course, the war is wrong and we shouldn't be there but it doesn't make this guy's actions any less heroic or honorable. Semper Fi!
After reading what he did it makes you wonder what more you need to do to earn the Congressional Medal of Honor.

8. Would you have preferred it if he would have allowed his troops... |

... which were under his command, to be killed in the ambush? From the detail of the story, I think he did an unusually brave thing, and saved his men while killing the 20 Iraqis who were attacking.
I'm not glorifying the deaths of anyone... but this Marine saved lives in his action.
This guy deserved the Navy Cross, as defined, and probably is worthy of the Medal of Honor, in my opinion.
ON EDIT: I agree that the author of the piece is a jingoistic, huah-wannabe idiot.
