When will Kerry start debating Bush?
Kerry is going to wipe the floor with Bush and I can't wait to watch it on TV.

Anyone else waiting for the debates?

The first question should be about * hearing aid and why is he wearing it.

The second should be about die-bold and what he thinks about BBV.

What kind of questions do you think that Kerry will ask Bush?

1. It'll be after the conventions
The third question should be, "Why are you such an a-hole?"

What did Saddam want to do to your Dad when he was in office and do you still hold a grudge against him?

Bring it on. Maybe they'll discuss where they spent time during Vietnam.

2. Kerry has asked him 4 or 5 times
But Bush has either not responded or turned him down. I think he is afraid of Kerry and what would happen. He can not smirk his way through these debates. He would not survive.

They'll put that off for as long as possible, and the lap-dog media won't bother to ask why.

18. I do hope you're right
He needs to go after him with both barrels. Shrub has lots to answer for and Kerry is the man who can force him to do so, providing Kerry is willing to take the gloves off and put him on the spot. No civility allowed.

5. I think the chances of a Bush/Kerry debate ever happening are . . .
about 20/80 . . . 20 that it will, 80 that it won't . . . not sure HOW he'll accomplish it (declare a national emergency, cancel the election, just say no, resign, be impeached, drop dead, whatever), but I have this strong hunch that we'll never see them together on a stage . . .

10. Bush is Toast
Other than redistributing wealth to the most wealthy and declaring war on third world countries, what has Bush done? Yes, he cut family planning funds to third world countries. He's been the biggest joke we've ever had as a (s)elected president. The popular vote didn't want him in there.

I don't expect to see any debates. But if they do get scheduled and * doesn't show, Kerry should demand that he gets to debate *'s record anyway. "Unfortunately pResidednt Bush could not be here but his record showed up"

25. Press release from Office of White House Physician
Roiters/August 1, 2004
Press release from Office of Senior White House Physician Dr. Conny Mariano:

"The President is suffering from a relatively mild case of influenza. Although he feels well enough physically to continue his duties as Commander-in-Chief and Chief Executive, this particular virus manifests itself primarily in the vocal cords. In some cases the larynx nerves are permanently damaged or paralyzed. His condition is being treated with antibiotics, however the prognosis is not as good as we would like. It is unlikey that the President will be able to speak normally for several months."

39. Bush has debated in every election he's ever run
He debated two very strong debators in Al Gore and Ann Richards. He debated Gary Mauro when he had no reason in the world to debate him and had everything to lose and nothing to gain, yet he debated him anyway.

Why in the world would you think he wouldn't debate John Kerry?

13. It's going to be painful (for us to listen to Bush)
When Kerry wins it's going to be so nice to have a President who's smarter than me representing the country. I can hardly bear to listen to Bush mangle the English language when he's asked a simple question by the press. I don't see how Bush can stall forever on debating Kerry, but perhaps he'll insist that Cheney be there holding his hand like he did during the closed 9/11 hearings.

17. Debate scenario...
Kerry: <Any question or challenge>
Bush: Hummina Hummina Hummina, I.. I.. C.. Can't seem to c.. c.. come up with anything at the m.. moment. (sweating)
.
.
.

Limbaugh (post debate): That was a slam dunk grand slam home run debate for Bush!
Bush supporters: Those questions asked by Kerry were unfair
(this is the defensive statement I heard from a few about the question "what was your worst mistake?")

21. Debate Format
Bush will submit to a debate where the "Questions" are provided to him in advance and there are no follow up questions...or perhaps SOME follow ups, but only if the questioner is Brit Hume.

22. It's important to remember...
...that the debate format does not include the two candidates asking each other questions. That will not happen in the packaged format that the republicans will insist upon. It's actually in our best interest that the expectations for Kerry to spank bush not be set too high. This happened with Gore in 2000. The fact that bush was able to answer questions no harder than a 10th grader would get on a social studies exam was seen as "proof" that he had exceeded expectations.

What might be interesting would be for Kerry to up the challenge, and "set up" a series of debates in cities across the country. Have an empty chair for bush. It is a powerful device, though it back-fired years ago against a republican who attempted this in a senate run against Robert Kennedy .... when RFK showed up, he was not let into the building, and the press then had photos of him attempting to participate in the "debate" ..... I don't think there is a huge risk of bush showing up, much like in his National Guard duty.

If * can't debate him then why don't Kerry place an empty chair across from him and give debate it and say that * couldn't be here to answer questions so he will answer them instead or something like that.

31. "I look forward to that debate".
That's what shrubco said repeatedly about everything (Iraq, tax cuts, whatever). These sound bites should be repeated endlessly, rubbing his face in it when he inevitably declines JK's debate challenges (as he already has earlier).

If he says yes the follow up should be how so!

38. Debate Schedule has been announced
The presidential commission on debates has announced their schedule. It hasn't been accepted by either side yet, but will probably be kept as is.

Presidential Debates

9-30-04 at University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida

10-8-04 at Washington University in St Louis

10-13-04 at Arizone State University in Tempe

Vice-Presidential Debate

10-5-04 in Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland

With the schedule so compact, I wouldn't be surprised if only two of the three presidential debates are agreed upon.

Something Gore should have (and obviously could have) done 4 years ago but was too much of a gentleman.

It wouldn't take much to make an ass out of Bush. His own "fuzzy numbers" make himself look stupid.
