Neo-con keyboard pecker calls for a draft

What's so alarming about this column is how casual this woman is about the need for a draft to supposedly finish the job in Iraq. She just calls for conscription with no acknowledgment of how controversial that step would be. Also, this lady is the founder of an anti-abortion group. For someone who should care so much about the rights of the unborn those concerns seem to not apply to those who are Muslim.

It is beyond our comprehension, but Muslim terrorists enjoy killing innocent people on behalf of their twisted religion. We need to enhance our military presence in Iraq supported by a draft. Every healthy high school graduate should be conscripted for military or civilian service for a period of three years. With our troops spread so thin we lack the manpower needed to defeat our enemy. We should stop worrying about Iraqi civilian casualties and prisoners. President Bush’s biggest mistake was using the WMD’s as grounds for invading Iraq. The only reason should have been the ousting of Saddam Hussein. Weapons of mass destruction don’t kill unless monsters of mass destruction use them.

And if she does, I want to say to her "Okay, then, show your commitment to this idea: take a gun, and kill your boys right now. If you aren't willing to kill them yourself, then you have no honor in sending them off to be killed by dirty ay-rabs. Do you want your sons to spend an eternity in dishonor because they were killed by filthy america-hating ay-rabs because their warmongering mother didn't have the honor to kill them herself?"

11. I am having a lot of trouble with the draft.

I hated the draft and was glad to see it go but now I am wondering if out founders were not right in that a citizen army was the way to go. If we had people in our family in service we would watch the military a lot more and care what it does. I do have grandchildren that could go in and I live off a military check. But then why should a person have to fight if they did not wish to? I guess I am trying to figure out how the general pop could get a hold of the service and stop these wars. It all troubles me.

nobody will enlist, and most troops currently in Iraq have had their tours of duty
extended repeatedly.

Those who are willing to go to Iraq due to economic duress are increasingly being
hired by private contractors for far more than the military would pay.

It is only the absense of a draft that has prevented Bush* from invading more countries.
If he can conscript troops at will, it will be on to Iran, Syria, and who knows where it
will end?

I read that every one is still signing up or heard it on TV. I am not sure that is true. I just do not like the draft but I still get this feeling if we had one we may stay out of wars. As far as the draft goes I'd have to agree with her...every man and woman with or without kids over the age of 30 and under the age of 60 should be drafted...starting with her....The only people under the age of 30 who should serve should be those who volunteer. If this policy were adopted we'd never start a war again. In fact we'd probably never have another war again.

The article is so contradictory, I don't even know where to begin. All in one paragraph, she goes from decrying Muslim terrorists killing innocents to "we should stop worrying about Iraqi civian casualties and prisoners." Ten thousand-plus Iraqis dead as a result of the invasion and occupation and, per the Red Cross, 70%-90% of the prisoners (at least in Abu Ghraib) detained in error. And she's pro-life. Breathtaking.

There are lots of potential "monsters of mass destruction" out there: one of whom is in North Korea. And the N. Koreans have admitted to having nuclear bombs. Where is the author's concern?

Funny that she didn't mention her volunteering for military service either given her support for a draft.

This woman needs help.
