All right damn it! Lets hear some DU campaign Ideas!

I'll always remember this story:

When LBJ was campaigning for congress, he hired a helicopter. He would swoop down on the farmers and tell them when he would be in town over a bull horn. LBJ knew the farmers didn't give a damn about him, they wanted to see the helicopter! It was the helicopter that got them to the campaign stop, but LBJ got their votes with his speeches.

I believe John Kerry will do the same. But he needs a "helicopter" to bring in those who are not yet convinced that 4 more years of shrub would be a total disaster.

What are YOUR ideas for John Kerry's idealogical helicopter?

I'm asking this because I am hopeful people in the Kerry campaign read DU and we all need to help dispose of shrub.

2. Glad to contribute
A stupid campaign is one that follows a game plan from beginning to end. A smart campaign knows when to throw the goddamn plan out and jump on the moment. Right now Bush is down (and it's gas prices and nothing else, don't kid yourselves). When someone is thought ill of is when you need to pile on because people want to hear more to add to their bitch list of the bastard who them currently hate. We can't wait until gas prices are down and Bush' numbers come up--AND BOTH WILL HAPPEN--because them Americans won't hear one bad word about their precious. RIGHT NOW, we need ads from Kerry that point out Bush's other failures above and beyond Iraq that are hurting the American people. They will listen now. They won't listen in a few months when these prices come down. We need a few of those ads NOW>

8. See His Family

We need to see a "JK Family" so that we feel comfortable with them.

It would be a boost because, in contrast, the Bush family is the pits.
This is a vibrant 21st Century family that is good looking and smart.

Recall all the pictures of JFK and all the Kennedy's going out to work for them. That is what we need to see.

We need to fall in love with the family, know their names and what they are doing to make this country want them in the WH.

We can't stand 4 more years of the Twins and Babs and the thug Poppy.

We want a classy family to represent us.

And, please call him JK not JFK.

5. This isn't an idea about helicopters but it is an idea
is it possible for as many DUer's as possible to write letters to the editor's exclaiming that "after reading reviews of Michael Moores movie, they are shocked to find out that the president just sat there and did nothing", just a thought. Alot of people didn't realize that happened. Maybe it would hit a nerve.

7. And then there's the other LBJ story.....

LBJ was campaigning against a rancher and he instructed his campaign people to start a rumor that the rancher had sex with his farm animals. His advisors told him the rancher was well respected did not have sex with animals. LBJ told them "I know he doesn't, but let's make the SOB deny it!"

11. I e with YOU! I was just thinking about the push polls in SC
I know I've heard rumors of Shrub paying for a girfriend's abortion when he was young.

The BushCo's did push polls in Nc & SC against McCain saying "what would you think if you heard John McCain had a dark fathered a dark skinned child? Would you still vote for him?"

Obviously the intimation was that this was a bastard child. John does have a dark skinned child that he and his wife adopted legaly. I don't remember what country she is from.

Well it worked with the voters! They made the mind leap and McCain was killed at the polls.

At least the abortion story has been floating around the net for quite a while....might be true???? So we make a few calls, just asking. MAybe just in the swing states. Or maybe in the Southern States where Shrub is expected to have a lock.

Hmmmm.

14. Facism in 2004
Interesting and chilling discussion of the SIGNS OF FASCISM below that could be raised by Kerry. (I was sent this stuff by automatic email and would have liked to have it be its own thread...but DU does not allow new threads to be started by new members. Please feel free to copy this and start a thread with it, if you think it's deserving.)

(begin paste)

Matthew Fox is perhaps one of the deepest relgious thinkers on the planet these days. For those interested in a powerful and well written critique of Mel Gibson's The Passion as a reflection of fascism, this is well worth reading:

http://www.tikkun.org/magazine/index.cfm/action/tikkun/issue/tik0405/article/040511c.html

Here's one interesting tidbit from it:

Recently a political scientist, Dr. Lawrence Britt, wrote an article
naming fourteen characteristics of fascism. He based his study on an
examination of the regimes of Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Suharto and
Pinochet. (For the record, we need to remind ourselves that four of
these men were Roman Catholics never excommunicated by their church--all except Suharto.) A summary of Britt's points follow.

1. Powerful and continuing nationalism employing constant use of
patriotic slogans, symbols, songs, flags.

2. Disdain for the recognition of human rights because security needs
outweigh human rights which can be ignored.

3. Using enemies as scapegoats for a unifying cause.

4. Supremacy of the military.

5. Rampant sexism including more rigid gender roles and anti-gay
legislation.

6. Controlled mass media.

7. Obsession with national security driven by a politics of fear.

8. Religion and Government are intertwined especially in rhetoric
employed by its leaders.

9. Corporate power is protected--industrial and business aristocracies
put government leaders into power and keep them there creating a
mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor power, which represents one of the few threats to fascism, is
suppressed.

11. Disdain for intellectuals and the arts and hostility to higher
education along with censorship of arts or refusal to support the arts.

12. Obsession with crime and punishment.

13. Rampant cronyism and corruption.

14. Fraudulent Elections.

Sound familiar? Fox's article is well worth reading...

17. To help Du and Guy James and get the message out ..please
order Take it Back....The narration Cd featured on the Guy James show and Bartcop. I invested in this fact based of lies and war profiteering and so many other things to Take This country Back.
I don't expect to get my money back at all but if it turns one vote away from Bush and helps DU and The Guy James Show and other liberals
then please order. I narrated, produced and recorded it. Please Order..10 percent goes to DU and 50 percent goes to THe Guy James Show.
Now order that Cd and there are shirts and all there too.

http://cafeshops.com/focusgroupnow.9200633
Please visit Focus Group Now Online as well. any sales from this site goes to help liberal causes. Some from this site and other blogs have ordered and it is my intention to get those sales up to make a difference. We need this site and The Guy James Show.
You can read my bio online or know I am the one who embarrased Katherine Harris on CNN. I am the one who is married to a disabled Vietnam Vet. I am the one who continues to stay in contact with Marie 333 and who helped with the Disability Rights on the Tennessee case. This took me by invitation to the 10th anniversary of the ADA with Vice President Gore and Senator Harkin, back in 2000. I am credible. You even get to hear a sample. There are two 30 sec clips of music but the rest is narration of Bush and how every vote for Bush is against We the People. Make a difference and play that CD to everyone of voting age. Or simple google my name: Amanda Kato
Thanks ya'll !

18. They already know the basics
Upstage(choice of Veep is a powerful weapon if done very well) at some very key moment leading into momentum. Can only do once of course and the Convention still seems the best place to define the issue to the largest audience. As Bush campaigns with his inept and phony performance bolstered by lies(with crises he can't handle going on) Kerry can easily shadow and top these efforts and diminish their cumulative illusion.

More real contact with real people, talking real talk(as great as his speeches are when listened to!). Keep gimmicks light and not dominant.
Being in DC while Bush is off duty and roaming the country while Bush is trapped in some DC nightmare is always fun scheduling- although when the Bushistas are NOT in DC is probably a high time of personal risk.

Maybe people want to get on TV. Get more locals into local and national ads in process. Name and praise them besides the local candidates we are giving great coattails to.(While some may soon be shunning Bush).

Here's a fun idea. Put on our OWN opposition demonstration road show of Bush supporters and protesters with heavy irony and deliberate entertainment value far superior to the real disruptors. This could give Kerry the comic relief we all need from the long long list of crucial beefs against Bush.BIGGER DEFICITS! GIVE MORE MONEY TO THE RICH! Bob Boudelang could hire a group of Gucci shod goosesteppers to better present this idea.

Do a Jack Benny routine where Kerry threatens but never gets around to playing his guitar.

19. White House Gang
Kerry could say--?"My first act will be to ensure every last Pnac neo-con has been removed from the people's house."

"This Gang in the people's house are directed by the program for a New American Century which is one of Conquestadors. Conquer the world. I will have no part of it."

"I will rid the people's house of the ATR (americans for tax reform)Gang whose only policy is to destroy all social programs which help all americans."

These are simple. These are easily explained in simple understandable language.

They do not attack one person. They are not mean.

They are truths. People wil buy them.
I could speak for hours on those two points. So can Kerry, Without seeming vile or negative.

what do you think?
