"My City Was Gone" and Rush. |

Has Chrissie Hynde Ever Commented ,Publicly, About Limbaughs...use of "My City Was Gone" as his main bumper music? The hypocrisy drives me crazy every time I hear it. It must be pure torture for her.

As a former long-term Ohioan, I just don't get Rush's use of that song. Ohio sure as hell isn't paved over with shopping malls because of anything a progressive ever did.

2. "My City Was Gone" and Rush |
|
I am not a regular listener to the show, but I have often wondered how in the world he settled on that for his theme song. It just doesn't seem possible.
The magic word is "royalties." Chrissie Hynde will, in the words of Liberace, cry all the way to the bank.

3. He claims he has her blessings... |

...but I've read otherwise (although I don't recall where). I think it's legal for him to use it...

He had been using it for several years, without permission or compensation.
She found out about it, and sued.
Rush thought it was hypocritical, but he paid for the right to play it.
Now he jokes occasionally about how "she was bought off".
I think that it was probably more about the record label giving permission than her giving permission.

about all she could do is publicly complain. She can't prevent him from using it.

6. OK, here's what I heard... |

Chrissie didn't give much of a damn about Rush using the song until he started MOCKING the fact that he was using the song of a 'Liberal animal rights nut.'
After that, she gave him an ultimatum. Stop using the song or pay all royalty fees to PETA.
He agreed.
That's what I heard.

Kind of strange that he would give money to a cause that he regularly derides just so he can use a song as his bumper. Who was bought off here?

I have heard conflicting reports.
1) It's a radio show. He pays to play it just like "Stairway to Heaven" on the classic rock station. No more, no less. (Rush's side) 2) As a theme song, much like "Who are you" on CSI, Rush must pay more than just a song on a radio playlist. Payments go directly to PETA. (Rumor overheard) 3) The lawsuit route previously mentioned.
Anyone know for sure?
