Why is Arnold getting all this press coverage and attention?
He isn't the only celebrity running for Governor and he isn't even that good of an actor. I guess the press wants him to win or otherwise he wouldn't be getting this kind of attention.

2. because
He has the most legit chance of winning. And...he's Arnold Freakin' Schwarzenegger!

You couldn't make up a weirder story if you tried.

Of course it's gonna get media attention.

Did you expect the press to ignore this?

He has the most legit chance of winning.

On what do you base this?

17. name recognition
basically.

With 150 people on the ballot, if the initiative passes, Arnold will probably get the most votes just by virtue of people knowing who he is.

Even if they don't know what he stands for.

Just my guess, anyway. I'm not a Californian.

12. chicken and the egg
he has the 'best chance' because he's on stinkin' tv 24/7. I'm sure if Arianna, Flynt, Coleman, Cruz, etc, had this much FREE TIME, they would have a 'chance' as well

18. no
Arnold was rumored to run for years now. And he's hung around politicians for decades.

He is getting this press:

(a) because he's the biggest celebrity running.
(b) because the White House wants it that way.
(c) because he makes a great story.

21. The media has made Arnold the frontrunner
If the media mocked him running and made it into a joke, like they would do if he was a Democrat, then he would not be leading the pack right now.

The media is not reporting the news in this case, they are making the news.

The California media is very activist against Davis and this is part of that effort.

with California voters saying they'd vote for him before he ever declared.

He has a legit shot, even if the media mocks him.

7. The real reason
Because nothing is going on in the Kobe Bryant case!

That's all it comes down to. CNN/MSFoxlite and Fox SS News are mostly fluff, like entertainment news, weird people on the street and three legged dogs.

I'm starting to get into NewsWorld International. Today they're talking more about Liberia than Schwarzenegger, which I think is more intriguing.

11. Because that's how the corporate media elect their man.
Why are we so naive to think that WE, the people, elect our officials. The media has, does, and always will elect whom they want via positive vs. negative stories written or as is the case now, constant exposure to the publice.

13. They want him to win
I find the coverage ridiculous. It looks to me like the press is going all out for Ahhhhhnold. They want him to win. Then they will dig in his closet and AFTER he's Gov, they will tell the world about all of his indiscretions. Private and business. He's fodder for some juicy news stories. IMHO This Ca. recall makes my blood boil! :grr:

16. The media hates Democrats and loves Republicans
If Arnold was running as a Democrat the media would be brutalizing him right now.

Think about what they would be saying if he had run as a Democrat, it would be totally the opposite of him running as a Republican.

19. Presidential Timber...
And before you lecture me about how Presidents must be native born:

Hatch latest to back presidency amendment
By JOAO FERREIRA, Standard-Times staff writer

NEW BEDFORD -- U.S. Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, R-Utah, introduced a proposed constitutional amendment this week that would allow foreign-born citizens to become president. For one New Bedford resident, this is a victory.
A bipartisan group of House legislators introduced a similar amendment about a month ago.
"This is a major, major, historical step," said Raimundo Delgado, a New Bedford resident who has spent 25 years fighting for such an amendment. "Now we have another front that we were looking for in the Senate side. This guy is the leader of the Republicans. He has been in the Senate for 27 years. He is a very prominent leader."

Note the dateline: July 12, 2003. That’s almost a month before Arnold’s surprise announcement. I tell ya, you just can’t make this stuff up.

20. Funny you just posted that...
I was looking up info on when Arnold became a citizen and found this on the Freerepublic.
<snip>
Maybe it's time to amend the Constitution to allow foreign-born citizens to serve as president, so long as they have held American citizenship for at least 14 years (the current provision requires 14 years' residency as well as native citizenship). If this were done within five years, Schwarzenegger could run in 2008 to succeed President Bush. Just imagine President Schwarzenegger standing astride the world stage, towering over the puny likes of Jacques Chirac and Gerhard Schroeder. Those guys would start to long for the good old days of George W. Bush.<snip>

Hmmm.....looks like they may have more up their sleeve, eh?

27. for once I agree with Orrin Hatch.
I don't see why a naturalized citizen can't become President?

This is a very smart move on the part of the GOP...could be playing to the growing immigrant population and potential immigrant voters...

and therefore the perfect poster-boy for the GOP. He's the image they love to project, and facing an incumbent named "Gray" - hate to be shallow, but tell me I'm wrong - he's red meat to the press.
