WP: Frist's son charged with DUI
Apparently drunk driving is a conservative family value. Who knew?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A41236-2004May19_2.html

• In the wee hours yesterday morning, William Harrison Frist Jr. -- Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's son, who goes by the name Harrison -- was pulled over in Princeton, N.J., for improper passing, which led to his being charged with driving while intoxicated, police reported. The Princeton University sophomore, who turned 21 two weeks ago, was "polite and calm," Lt. Dennis McManimon told us. Frist was released shortly after 4 a.m. and has a court appearance next week. A spokesman for the senator offered no comment except, "This is a personal family matter."

1. This isn't our business
unless the elder Frist intervenes on his son's behalf.

3. While you are correct
There is the annoying fact that the right continuously drags the children of wives of our side into the light whenever it serves their purpose.

Its not always easy to walk the right (left?) path when your opposition seems to have the freedom to do whatever they want to do. But then falling to this thinking is the first step to losing what you are fighting for. No one said it was easy being the good guys.

4. The damn Hell it isn't
These Republicans are always telling us how to raise our families, who we can marry, how we have to behave, what we can eat, drink, smoke, sniff, snort, drive, look at, watch, listen to, and mourn our loved ones (as they did with Wellstone's family). They advocate punishing parents for the crimes of their children, they blame parenting and our culture for tragedies like Columbine, they blast away at the family of John Walker Lindh for letting him become a Muslim. On and on and on.

THEY make it public. THEY run on family values. It certainly is a story when the methods they preach are exposed as fake.

5. Good response.
I've had it with these guys forcing their will on America. What ever happened to freedom of choice and expression?

We used to be able to turn off the station when it offended us, now we've got others to think and act for us.

13. I'm happy for him, but what does that have to do
with pointing out that his father's and his father's party's ideals don't work? They want to control my every thought and action and can even threaten to take my children away if I disagree with them on how to raise my kids. It matters a great deal that their ideals, their claims, their morality, is an absolute failure.

10. Don't forget the day Gingrich . .
. . claimed that Susan Smith killed her children because of liberal values.

12. I didn't like it when they did this to Al Gore Jr.....
and I don't like it now. We need to be consistent in our treatment of politicians family problems. Instead we constantly complain when they do it to us and then turn around and do it to them.

I would rather we rise above this kind of crap.

11. I could care less
But at the same time, it's hard to get a DUI at Princeton. Nobody drives there.
