One more month of Afghan "Spring Offensive". What have we accomplished? |
|
Seems like years ago, our country was rearing to go for an Afghan "Spring Offensive" designed to take out the remnants of the Taliban and al Qaeda. It seemed like in every paper and on every station, the word from everyone up the chain of command to the generals was that this time we would get Osama bin Laden. We even started the Offensive by getting al Qaeda's number 2 man al-Zawahiri "cornered" with "no escape".
So what have we accomplished? Al-Zawahiri somehow foiled his captors, Osama is still on the loose, several US troops, including a millionaire football player, were killed, and investigations into prison abuse couldn't possibly help win Afghan hearts and minds any more than it does in Iraq. Chalk up another fuck-up for Bush. Is it any wonder the media no longer mentions the Spring Offensive anymore?

1. it was a great victory |

we spent a few billion bucks on bullets and bombs instead of on educating american children or creating jobs for American workers.
Everything is going precisely according to plan.
