Senator Hollings: "I was misled"
Right now on the Senate floor Fritz Hollings (D-SC) is giving a speech on Iraq. He voted for the IWR but now says he was misled. The purpose of the speech seems to be in defense of a controversial letter he wrote on Iraq policy which some republicans called anti-semitic. But, he is also condemning Bush on the war in general.

If ordinary people like us, could see through the "ruse", surely senators and congress people who have access to ALL the info, could see through it..

I think , deep down, they knew that they had to put up with the little tyrant, and decided to just play along.. They may have bought into the idea, that it would be an easy victory, and if not, they could always say they were misled..

The "icky" part is that about 800 people are no longer among the living, thousands of Iraqis are dead, and untold damage to our country will persist for decades..

Why??

Because a BUNCH of senators did not want to take a stand...when it would have mattered..

It's especially troubling when senators who have already announced their retirement, played the game.. They could have sttod up, but except for a precious few, they did not..

When people are actually DEAD, "better late than never" does not cut it.

And when people are still dying, I say we should take what we can in order to stop it. I prefer that over self-righteousness.

4. I think you've got it backwards

I think having access to all the information seems to have made it more difficult to see the plan for what it was. If nothing else, for every piece of information they had access to that confirmed what we know, there was probably at least one that seemed to coaberate the story coming from the Bush Administration.
