Former Texas Governor, Ann Richards, on Larry King tonight.
Edited on Mon Aug-11-03 05:00 PM by Clete
at 9 pm EDT on CNN.

This should be interesting. This very savvy woman once said that Bush's White House was going to lead us into war to distract us from what they were doing behind the scenes, and this was before 9-11. She is sure to have a lot to say about the California Arnold Circus.

9. This is supposed to be a new show.
At least that's what it sounded like when they advertised it today. I hope it's not an old interview.

12. Was she the one who also referred to George Bush as an
"elitist" and a "shrub"

Was quite sure someone gave her credit for that but am not sure who.

that he was "born with a silver spoon in his mouth" tho' Ms Ivins could have said that too.

Our inability to get things done is going to spread throughout the Middle East. The only places they can control are the Oil Fields

says she's going to try to get out and help them Dems in 2004.

Quest: How can the Dems get the media to focus on them? all they get are sound bites and ridiculed

Ann: It should get easier when the nominee is chosen. They have to choose a single issue and not run all over the place. NOt a one issue campaign.

Quest: How do Dems win despite his popularity?

Ann: Turn out the vote. Gore won in 2004, but the Supreme Ct chose Bush. People have to get out and vote. Brings up Nader.

Isn't Arnold running the same type of campaing as Bush, meaning avoid questions?

BUsh is good at avoiding stuff, ask him what time it is, and he'll say that Saddam is evil and has to go

I'm watching LK Live right now and she soooo rocks.

It makes perfect sense to me that she was voted out of office in Texas...she's far too good for that state.

26. What's so cool about Ann is...
she ain't running for nuttin. So when she speaks, you're hearing some down-home truths. The California recall and the 2004 Presidential aren't going to enhance her coffers one bit. She's a woman who's no stranger to hard times and has shown she had the will to overcome. She also told King tonight that she and he didn't need *'s tax cuts.

Mark me *biased* though, because I think she, Molly Ivins and Helen Thomas are national treasures.

The moveon.com crowd loved it. I watched that speech three times; the applause and whistling was the best.

32. I agree,Gore was fine the other day...
but I feel he contributed to his Presidential loss with inepitude, pandering to silly things like his choice of clothes - things that made him see indecisive -trying too hard to distance himself from Clinton - and therefore dismissing all the good that had come to us in that eight years.(That doesn't mean he's a bad guy - it means that I think he made bad choices and that contributed to the Supremes taking over the concert). You can't couch your bets and win hearts. Ivins, Richards and Thomas say what's on their minds. They're not interested in being all things to all people. Women have a different take on things - at some viseral level they know when it's time to fish or cut bait.

28. The two best things that ever came out of TX...
are Anne Richards and Molly Ivins!

I have written to both of them over the years, and have received replies every time. These are two highly intelligent and thoughtful women, that tell it like it is.

She is doing a fine job on Larry King tonight, I missed the first 20 min's, but will watch the re-run.

God, she's just such a Grand Lady!

29. Two Californians have already called in
and asked her to please come to California and clean up the mess. Okay she says to go to the polls and vote no on the recall. She says if you vote for the recall to vote for someone with experience. Now is not the time to get anyone in there without experience. When Larry explained that you could do both. She said, "Oh, What a mess!"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you say Ann Richards can't be trusted because she works for a company that support Karl Rove?
