Poll question: Christians: Do you find "Xtian" offensive?
I don't at all, the X is an ancient symbol originally used as an honorary term for Christ. It's a perfectly valid abbreviation and not intended as a slur like some racial "abbreviations"

1. X is the Greek letter CHI which is the first letter of Christ in Greek
So no. But ignorant people think that the X means that you are xing out Christ.

2. What does offend a christian?
I just figure that Jesus would never get offendded at anything so why would his followers?

4. That which offended Christ should offend a Christian...
namely: "My temple should be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves." Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Oral Roberts, and too many other foul fakirs and televangelists to list. Will their moneygrubbing and spewing of hatred save them? I don't think so....

3. No, not offensive
Neither do I take offense to 'Xmas.' As you said, 'X' is an ancient identifier of Christ, as is the fish symbol.

5. At DU, 'Xtian' has often been used as an offensive term,

so I can't see it as a neutral term.

The flap over the term Xmas ("taking Christ out of Christmas") has been going on for at least forty years and is and always was silly. No one uses the abbreviation Xmas to demean Jesus or Christianity.

It's use, or, more correctly, misuse, that changes a neutral term to an offensive one.

6. I use the term to designate pseudo christians
You know, The ones who think god WANTS them to be wealthy. Usually found stepping on the fingers of the poor and chastising them for poor life choices.
