NPR all things considered bows low to the military tonight |

Edited on Fri May-21-04 12:39 AM by The_Casual_Observer
This was the worst pandering yet. The official government line about the state of the Iraqi handover presented by some general taken at face value by the "interviewer" for about 15 minutes. Then a very long piece about new army recruits and recruiters full of sentiment and patriotism. Honestly why don't they just change the name of this piece of shit network to "the voice of America" ??? I noticed that Walmart is now a named sponsor.

3. They sicken me. I keep hearing outrageous stuff from Heritage Foundation, |
|
the Generals running the war crimes and the Republicans backing them up.
There isn't a day that I don't hear something on Nat'l Petroleum Radio that I would expect Fox News to carry.
Fuckers. Keeping their nice flats in Georgetown by softballing the neocons.

8. Pacifica is OK, but very shoestring/underfunded |
|
They have been ruined over the years by treachery from within. Many good programs have gone by the wayside as a result. Perhaps someday it can be brought back to it's old glory days under solid creative management.

2. Not far wrong in that estimation.... |
|
It might be that the current head of NPR is a former director of Radio Free Europe, and his boss at the Corporation of Public Broadcasting was his former boss at Voice of America.
Putting the US in the best light possible now seems to be the modus operandi of public broadcasting.

4. Yes, I noticed the military theme today |
|
I listened to All Things Considered this afternoon and I was surpised at the number of stories concerning the military and at their length. It got to be a little grating after a while. They threw in the story about 40 year old baseball players to even it out, I suppose.
I must say that the piece about Army recruitment in Texas was a bit disturbing especially when the 17(?) year old boy enlisting said he hadn't really been following the news from Iraq.

somebody should be starting a documentary about those poor kids signing up. i'm at a complete loss of words because of their ignorance of what they are getting themselves into. it was wierd hearing the not so subtle warnings of those around them, parents, veteran relatives.
"well there's no jobs, so i guess the military is my next best choice" geezus keerist if these poor kids can't see that being a bum is better than getting killed for this bullshit war. fuck.
on a "lighter" note, they sure were gushing about *'s little private meeting with all the pukes.

|
Sorry.................
We really don't like to call it Nat'l Pentagon Radio, but if it walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, what do you call it? A Duck.
NPR = National Pentagon Radio Network
