2. And the Oil Industry is reporting RECORD profits. Coincidence? |
|
I am sorry to hear that, God_bush_n_cheney. I paid $1.89 yesterday for the lowest grade (OK/TX). About 4 years ago we paid under $1 for a gallon.
I am always reading those posts saying how fortunate we are and that in Europe it is about $4 or 5. I feel sorry for them but they also have better mass-transit. And knowing that we pay so "little" as compared to Europe doesn't help me in any way. Doesn't change the situation that I am on a very limited income and I have no other way to get to work than using my car. I am fortunate that my car gets 34 miles/gallon, but it still hurts.

The secret Energy task force?
The crap this misadministration gets away with astounds me. but when you've got friends like the bought-and-paid-for CORPORATE MEDIA, I guess it helps.

if you live say in paris and want to go on ski holiday anywhere in the Alps you hop a high speed train change once and your in Chamonix where there are busses cruising up and down the valley all day and maybe night. If i want to go up to tahoe its 100$ in gas and no bar car

9. I think $4 a gallon is more appropriate |
|
Europe has been paying that for as long as I can remember. Gas has been, and still is so cheap in America, it's ridiculous. It's so cheap some people will get in the car and drive to their mailbox rather than walk or ride a bike.
And while I'm pet peeving... it kills me to see people complain about gas prices as they're picking up their $4 latte from Starbucks in their 12mpg SUV. The irony just kills me.

I take leftovers from at home to work in a lunch box to save money.
Every time I see a gas guzzling car my blood pressure goes up. And I live in Texas and work in Oklahoma. So, I probably need medication for that soon ;)
Knowing that gas prices are much higher in Europe is not helping the poor folks right now. Those guys who are working two minimum-wage jobs to feed their families don't have the time to worry about those things.
I know that we have to do something about all the waste in energy and come up with better cars. My car gets 34 miles per gallon and I would love to buy one of those hybrids. Or find a job in walking distance to my home. But, with the bad job market and all the rising costs of health care, insurance, food, and gas it is all just wishful thinking for me.

Only $2.31 in the city. Bought yesterday in the 'burbs for $2.20.
Had an email this week from a friend in Atlanta -- gas there was only $1.91.

...guess I should feel lucky, but it's still pretty damn expensive to fill a 20-gallon tank.
