Is Randi Rhodes saying bye-bye to Air America. Sure sounds like it. She
says she hates her job, and just now she said she was going home and was not sure she was coming back. I hope she was joking - but I'm afraid she wasn't.

5. Not a surprise.
On a local Clear Channel station, there's a woman who sounds a lot like her. In fact "Moira" sounds just like Randi, except Moira wears her Jewishness on her sleeve (like a sailor wearing a tattoo). She even has a segment on her show called "Ask a Jew," where we Goyim can ask questions about various facets of Jewish life. And get Moira's possibly incorrect answer.

She isn't as political as Rhodes - being on Clear Channel, how could she? - but she has a sense of humor about herself that Rhodes is clearly lacking. Rhodes is limited to kvetching, and I think she's stewed in her own juices too long for her own good.

The best thing to happen to Rhodes would be for someone to strap her down and make her watch a bunch of Marx Brothers comedies. Dosed up, of course, with a healthy amount of St. John's Wort.

11. I guess it has to do with logistics and operational hiccups.
The phone system glitches, lack of air-conditioning (!!) in her studio etc. She didn't even know that she was being heard in Key West until a caller said so. I would expect her to look at these as toothing problems, but maybe I'm missing something. She may not even be getting paid, for all I know.

24. Well you know what? Tough.
If she wants to throw AAR into disarray over this before Bush* is let go, let's see how uncomfortable things get when there are tanks rolling down the street and shit.

This is a bad move for her, even if it's just purely manipulative. If I was management there and someone was engaging in this sort of brinksmanship this early on, I would seriously consider letting her go because you don't know if it's just gonna go on and on for every little thing.

33. I think she'd be happier doing AA from Florida
With todays technology, should't be a problem.
I love her, but I think she did much better when she was in Fla.
I also think she thought she would be the "Top Dog" at AA, but with Franken and Jeneane she probably feels like shes getting table scraps.

Just my thoughts:
-Janeanes show is surprisingly good.
-I love Al and think he is hilarious, but he needs more comedy bits, he's less effective discussing political minutae.(sp?)
-His cohost is abysmal.
-Laura Flanders is the best show on AA, move her to daily.
-They need Mike Malloy. Now. Put him on at night instead of repeats.
(It's possible he could do a morning show, but I'm biased)
-I haven't listened much to the morning shows, (unfiltered & morning sedition) but the little I have sucked.

*A plug for Sirius - on their "left" channel, Thom Hartmann and Peter Collins come on at night the same time AA starts replaying,
they're both terrific.

I agree.

I dont agree. I enjoy Frankens show and the cohost is fine for me. They have been varying bits and format and I think trying to see what works.

-Laura Flanders is the best show on AA, move her to daily.

I generally love her but this last weekend her show was terminal. I put it out of its misery after about 15 min.

-They need Mike Malloy. Now. Put him on at night instead of repeats.

ABSOLUTELY. Mike is my hands down favorite. I miss him like crazy. He would be perfect for a late night show.

-I haven't listened much to the morning shows, (unfiltered & morning sedition) but the little I have sucked.

Ive listened intermittently to both and I think they are not bad. Not good enough for me to dl and listen to later though.

8. If you've been listening to her
she's in a non-air conditioned studio, AAR hasn't been plugging her show and she can't get the good interviews because they're all going to Al Franken.

AAR need her more than she needs them. She's the best thing they've got going for them. And I know from listening to her FL show, she doesn't bluff. She'll walk in a New York minute.

Send an e-mail to AAR and tell them to give her whatever she wants.

19. WTF !!!! INTERVIEWS -- She said she doesn't do GUESTS cuz
she is a radio professional and she doesn't need guests for her show.

She said she does her show alone.

She said she rarely does interviews.

Interviews aren't the reason.

She want's to be the center of attention @ AAR. She doesn't like the fact that she isn't the STAR.

She was the STAR in FL and that is why she can't hack it @ AAR.

If she did her thing and kept her cake hole shut she'd own that place in a year. Hell, less than a year. After the election she'd own that joint.

If she leaves I won't give a shit. I'd still listen. Maybe they'd get Mike Malloy.

13. She DID say she does not do interviews.
She is upset because folks go on Franken, but no one brings them to meet her.

If it were me, I'd take a moment to wait in the hall and introduce myself. Then, I would take a moment to explain to the previous show how important these folks are to me and how much it would mean to me if I could have the chance just to stand close and shake a hand.

This sniping on the air is unprofessional. However, her anger does us a lot of good.

AC is a must. A frakin' must. 68-72 degrees when on the air.

They could link by sattelite from a studio in Fla. if she prefers. More money, but if she's happy...

Maybe she's waiting for the ratings to show her show

Timing, strategy, whatever, I just hope AAR wakes up

22. She's horrible
The only reason I wouldn't want to see her go is that a lot of you folks are fans and it will only serve to make AAR look bad.
But I really have no use for her, and it's a shame, becuse she is on top of things, and she does focus on the important stuff.

But as a regular AAR listener, I have to turn off within about 1/2 hour after she comes on. I just find her annoying.

23. For a political radio talk host
I think she's the best. She's annoying? I hopes she annoys the shit out of every fundie/neo-con supporting shriveled brain that wanders into her share of the radio dial. This isn't a cult of personality. You said it yourself:

"she is on top of things, and she does focus on the important stuff."

Being on top of things and focusing on the important stuff is a real positive in my book. She can be as annoying and bitchy as she wants. People should listen to what she says, and not only how she says it.

29. She annoys me for several reasons which I will gladly enumerate.
1) She has no guests. I prefer shows with guests. You learn more with a variety of views to sample from.

2) She makes constant reference to how unhappy her work situation is. Who gives a shit? If you're unhappy, leave!

3) She's rude to callers, especially those who make points too sophisticated or subtle for her to get.

Other than that, she's allright, I guess.

43. Me too
I could care less if she stays or goes. I never listen to her anymore. Aside from her too-strident tone, I've heard her argue with callers who were making some good points (that she didn't apparently understand and wouldn't take time to actually hear), and some of her views are far too DLC-ish for my taste.

HOWEVER, if she's going to complain on the air, she needs to go -- on her own or with a little help, makes no difference to me.

and possibly explains why some people aren't "nice" or whatnot.

Its one thing to be David Letterman back in the 80s moaning about NBC or somesuch, but to be badmouthing an apparently struggling network trying to get settled in a crucial election year? I don't get it, but then again - I'm not very bright.

41. I look forward to Randi each day
I am not impressed with Franken much at all. Boring at times and not funny. The morning shows are OK--but I think they last too long. Randi told Tim she was going home to Florida this weekend and it would be a miracle if she came back. She said he could stay with the vast AA if he wanted to. She complains that no one is friendly except for Janeanne--I don't think she complains that Franken gets the interviews so much as she feels that she is being ignored by Franken--in other words he does not introduce her to his in studio persons, such as the time he had Bobby Kennedy on. She is not invited in, apparently and has to look through the window--I don't think she is jealous but she is a woman and a broadcaster in her own right and should stick up for herself and how she is treated.
