Iraqis lose right to sue = plugging Abu Ghraib photo leak
On CNN last night, it was revealed that the photos only leaked because they were required to be given to the defense lawyers as part of the discovery process for the Iraqis who were suing the US for the torture they endured.

If you stop them from sueing, you can keep them from having a right to the evidence.

Have they plugged the leak? It seems that UN is interested in participating in the coverup rather than seeking justice. No wonder they won't protect Arafat.

1. I think the article says that Iraqis can't sue in Iraqi courts.
I think the article says that Iraqis can't sue in Iraqi courts.

If they have the money, they can still sue in US courts and British courts.

2. Good - I hope I jumped to an invalid conclusion then.

but this seems to put a damper on what you said:

'How is anyone in Iraq expected to bring a case in the British courts?' said Adam Price, the Plaid Cymru MP for Carmarthen East, who has been credited with uncovering many of the claims made against British troops.

'It is taking the idea of diplomatic immunity and applying it to 130,000 troops. There is a danger that you are actually going from immunity to being able to act with impunity.'

3. Those photos will continue
to be leaked every time the media lets the issue die down. The government doesn't have all of them tucked away in a vault.

4. The person is asking that question because most Iraqis don't
The person is asking that question because most Iraqis don't have enough money to bring a case in a British or American court, not because they are legally barred from doing so.
