1. Shouldn't this guy be in jail right now?
He is suspected of passing extremely sensitive intelligence to IRAN! And he's making the rounds of the morning talks shows?

3. So let me see if I can get this straight?
We've arrested 1000's of Iraqis and tortured and even killed some of them, but Chalabi, a known felon, who is now under investigation, and no one has issued a warrant for his arrest? Excuse me?

12. Bushworld - if you missed the original column
Edited on Sun May-23-04 07:59 AM by nostamj
WASHINGTON It's their reality. We just live and die in it..

In Bushworld, American troops go to war and get killed, but you never see the bodies coming home..

In Bushworld, flag-draped remains of the fallen are important to revere and show the nation, but only in political ads hawking the president's leadership against terror..

In Bushworld, America can create an exciting Iraqi democracy as long as it doesn't control its own military, pass any laws or have any power.

Bushworld: Enter at Your Own Risk
Maureen Dowd

Hardcover, August 19, 2004

5. That's what I'm wondering. We pulled innocent people off the
street and tortured them. Chalabi must really have the goods on these people. As far as I can see he should be sharing a cell with Saddam. Not making the Sunday talk show rounds. On the other hand I'm very happy to have the opportunity to hear him indict the administration today.

and not the latest Bushco shadowplay, he's lucky Abu Ghraib broke a month ago or he'd be enjoying the Lynndie and Chuck special right now.

17. Josh Marshall's been following all this Chalabi craziness. Even his
Edited on Sun May-23-04 08:21 AM by KoKo01
articles are hard to follow through all the twists and turns. He's been saying to read it all, but that what we are reading is maybe not the truth of it all. There's more to the Chalabi story that will be revealed. Josh says it's almost like pirhana's feeding with some "scraps" rising to the surface.

7. What is he doing on all the Sunday shows? He's a criminal charged with
either being a spy or passing along information to spies! What if this was the Clinton Administration?

WTF is going on here? This gets more bizarre every day. Is he going to be on with "Biden and Lugar?" Seems they are the only spokespersons who are allowed to talk on the pundit shows. Maybe they could do a Three Stooges routine this a.m. :nuke:

14. Perle won't be hurt
He's a shadow player, skulking in the background. Sy Hersh knocked him off his perch at the Defense Policy Board and it didn't even break his stride. If the wheels come off on Bushco's adventure, he'll just go underground again like those 17-year cicadas and reemerge when he's cultivated a new crop of sympathetic nutballs.

Miller, on the other hand, has been outted as the NY Times's Geraldo Rivera. When she gets slammed back to the Picayune Gazette, it'll be tasty...

18. Hope someone will clue me in
when I saw the preliminary line ups, my jaw just fell. Why Chalabi in full force?

There's more to this story. Something is rotten in DC....

20. On MTP Saffire was trying to spin
it has a power play by Brahimi and the UN vs Chalabi and his friends in DC.

They said Blackwater (? who the heck is he) is the one behind Brahimi and wants to give the UN everything they want to get them to fix Iraq for us.

Saffire was trying to insinuate that the charges against Chalabi were politically motivated and tried to brush them off.

23. Robert Blackwill
He's the new guy running Iraq apparently. Thanks for the spelling tip.

http://www.warandpiece.com/blogdirs/000161.html

A few notes on returning NSC official Robert Blackwill:

UPI, Juan Cole and others have reported that the recent US ambassador to India Robert Blackwill is being promoted to head the NSC 'crisis' team charged with trying to salvage the US Iraq mission. Indeed, sources cited by UPI suggest that Blackwill is essentially to become Paul Bremer's top deputy. (This I doubt. More likely, Blackwill will be a kind of Old Executive Office building-based trouble shooter Condoleeza Rice trusts to manage Bremer, the CPA, and the Iraqi Governing Council.)

"The future of the Iraq governing council will be on the agenda of talks that U.S. National Security Council official Robert Blackwill will be conducting with Bremer soon," UPI reports . "According to sources in Baghdad, Blackwill will visit Iraq to explore the possibility of enlarging the Iraq council, or dissolving it and setting up a new body."
