13. So, he showed a picture of 50,000 tons of Sarin ?
If not, he needs to shut the F**k up.
Our leaders need to be that blunt with these apologists.
Proof of WMD can be no less than what was claimed by G.W. Bush in his State of the Union Address, period, end of report.

8. Petty, pathetic, posturing tool
Duncan Hunter is a noxious little wet fart who resembles some feeble-minded, loud-mouthed drunk in a cheap bar surrounded by pickup trucks and infested with high school drop-outs wielding their precious fluid-filled long-necks.

11. From my cousin's district (the CA-52nd) ...
Edited on Sun May-23-04 10:36 AM by TahitiNut
... ENE of Sandy Ego in Sandy Ego County, and area that includes the site of two major 2003 wildfires, a high school shooting (Santee), and top gun wannabes. It's a typical "dirt district" that includes more dirt and vegetative life than sentient beings ... the kind of district that makes maps look red even though virtually bloodless.

It's (DUer) lazarus's district, too. (Poor guy!)

18. I caught that!
DK isn't out of the race yet. Doesn't this give Kerry the absolute right to do as he wishes re: the POTENTIAL nomination?

9. Didja notice that he never showed it to the camera?
Edited on Sun May-23-04 10:26 AM by Jacobin
From the glance we got, it appeared to be one small artillery shell, an 8/10 glossy photo closeup of a random dud. Oh, wait, Duncan was the random dud, but he was also holding a pic of one.

it was pretty much a non starter
the shell was from pre-Gulf One and didn't mix correctly probably due to it's age.

Kay and Blix both said it was no big deal

7. It didn't mix because it was not fired from a gun
These shells are designed to activate from setback and spin...neither of which happen when it's used as an IED laying on the ground. The binary components last many decades in a sealed environment and we can be thankful the nitwits using them have no clue how to make an effective aerosol release.

12. Do you have a link on Iraqi artillery munitions?
I still support Scott Ritter and his "turned to goo" statement.

As a weapons inspector he most likely was familar with what he was searching for.

2. Not WEAPONS of Mass Destruction

It's now a Weapon (singular) of Mass Destruction. A single depleted shell of Sarin gas. BTW, the shell was likely sold to them by the Reagan administration.

Can you see why the story died now???? It makes the Bush administration look .... STUPID!!!!!

4. No story in press
with a date after 5-17-04. I would like to see test results. One radio report was saying last week that the bomb contained deadly sarin gas. If nobody dies then how can it be deadly?

14. Yes, the media should be pursuing this story.
First, was it really sarin? Secondly, was it a new batch or was it leftover from before the First Gulf War? Thirdly, was there more where this came from and where did it come from? Lastly, who is presently studying this reported sarin?

16. I think I heard they were sending it back to FBI for testing.
I found it interesting that the day after this news hit, Rummy said we need to hold on until this gets tested, it may not be sarin. I don't recall Rummy being so cautious with his language before. I suppose it could be because he got burned bad on the WMD's and doen't want totake that chance again. It could also be that he knew better and if the press was actually going to check on stories now, he better squelch this one.
