Even if the Dems lose a few seats in the Senate, does it matter? |

I know the Dems might be in some trouble in the Senate races next year, Edwards and Graham both still haven't decided whether they will run for re-election, Hollins and Miller are retiring and so on. But I'm thinking if the worse happens, so what if the GOP does pick up a few seats in the Senate, they are in control anyway and still wouldn't be able to win enough seats to get a 60 vote filibuster proof majority.
Am I off base here, or would it matter if the Dems lose 2 or 3 seats in the Senate, or heck even 4 or 5 seats if the GOP gets lucky?

Because then the votes of Ben Nelson and John Breaux must be accounted for. And they are conservative Democrats.
Edwards's seat is gone if you believe in the "curse". Since 1974 Edwards's seat has changed hands every six years.

5. I hope Edwards can hang on! |
|
Even if he doesn't win the nomination the Dems need him as a future star.

we want to win seats in 2004
even if shrub wins the whitehouse because the sheeple see him as a protector it may be possible to convince them that the congress is the reason for all the screw ups and get a dem legislature. Meaning none of the stupid neocon agenda * pushes will get through.
Of course a dem legislature and a dem in the oval office should be our goal

3. Every seat counts. Incumbents usually win, so the more losses, the |

greater the number of years of being condemned to minority status -- that is, powerlessness.
