Schwarzenegger - Mapplethorpe
Dont let your Republican friends forget this connection...Jesse Helms went nuts over this stuff...NEA money etc...

If Bush thinks Schwarzenegger would make a good Governor - maybe he also thinks Mapplethorpe was a good photographer...someone should ask him.

2. I assume he's referring to nude photos...
... taken of Ahnold by Mapplethorpe.

... and to some ruckus raised a number of years ago about the NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) supporting artwork that bordered on pornographic (you know, like those statues at the Dep't of Justice)... I think NEA funding was cut over this.

3. NEA seems to turn GOP into nut cases.
The GOP, I bet, would not even go for any of the painting fron 'old' europe shown. Most live in the flat world days unless it has to do with busness and their gov rules, then any thing goes. So if he was nude in photes I am sure it is a good thing with the GOP. I never could figure out how sex out side of marriage was worse than stealing every one blind. Also smoking pot is worse than stealing. Now we will have to worry about ins, co, which seem to be on the edge of going under and cutting profits on their stock, which some people live on, and we are only hearing about some second rate actor walking into being head of our richest state. We also hardly hear about the 'new' way Bush is using the reports that come out of the gov. In other words this is all to take our minds off out slide into depression.

4. checked it out...
I found a remarkable portrait of Gregory Hines. in mid-dance step. I've already seen photos from the 1970s of Arnold nude. It wasn't by Mapplethorpe. Despite the right-wing fuss-budgets, Mapplethorpe was a always a blue-chip, high-end portraitist, along the lines of Richard Avedon. The coffee-table book on Mappletthrope's work has a 1976 picture of Arnold -- in a black bathing suit. I presume we've all seen Arnold with his a shirt off.

7. No not nude
The Arnold/Mapplethorpe pic I've seem is not nude...but it is part the same theme/group of photos that features homosexuality, S/M, porn stars...

You probably wouldn't want little Johnny or Jenny browsing through the Mapplethorpe coffeetable book trying to find the picture of the "Terminator"

Not sure of the origins of the nude pic that is going around the net...while it is black and white...its not nearly as artistic as Mapplethorpes work...

5. The point is...
...the whole Serrano Piss Christ/Mapplethorpe/NEA thing seemed to be the spark that ignited the "Family Values" issue....and that the GOP has become virtually synonymous with "Conservatism...Family Values...blah blah..." They would have you believe that old Bob Dole is about as liberal as they come.

Arnold flies in the face of everything that the GOP has stood for for the past 15-20 years (the Limbaugh Era)...

I think it's important to use this unusual Republican to sway the political landscape to the left.

How can any Republican support this guy without abandoning what seem to be core Republican values...? Can you imagine if he was a Dem? They Reps would just go nuts...!!!

Now me personally - I'd have a hard time NOT voting for him...lots of babes...smokes a little weed...modeled for Mapppelthorpe...my kinda guy...I'm thinking next were going to find out he was really in New York this weekend to see The Grateful Dead...!

8. Self-portrait with bullwhip
That wasn't just any gay man, that was Mapplethorpe himself.
