Judy Woodruff grrrrrr
Interviewing Berger just now and still trying to frame Bush as an effective internaitonalist.

Something like:

Samuel Berger: Why didn't Bush go to the UN a year ago? Why didn't he go when the statue fell?

Woodruff: (insistent) But he's going now!!

Oh CNN what has happened to you?

2. Access.
Edited on Mon May-24-04 02:53 PM by Tandalayo_Scheisskop
Access, access, access. The coin of the Washington realm. It makes reporters and networks hit their knees and suck Chimp schwanz.

On edit: Remember, it's also campaign ad buy season. They don't want Fox to get all that repuke cake.

12. the problem is...
Edited on Mon May-24-04 03:29 PM by grasswire
...that after WW2 credentialing of WH press was taken away from the press itself and given to the WH press office. If you want the press to be independent so this "access" excuse is no longer valid, then I urge you to push for credentialing of WH correspondents to be codified, as it is for those who cover Congress. And here's what you can push:

Peoples Bill of Rights for White House-Media Transparency

1. The White House Correspondents Association shall be the sole credentialing authority for entry to press events and briefings.

2. The president shall appear before the White House press corps for a regularly scheduled monthly conference of no less than two hours.

3. Questions will be asked of the president in an order to be determined by the White House Correspondents Association.

4. No questions will be submitted in advance to White House employees. No suggestions for questions will be communicated from the White House to reporters.

5. No credentialed members of the press will be denied access to any press event except by the decision of the White House Correspondents Association.

6. Members of the White House press shall not accept faxes, phone calls, e-mails or other communications from the political office of the WH, from political campaigns, from the RNC, the DNC, or lobbyists or other politics-based agents, unless the reporter has initiated the contact. Such entities may provide copy of any background material to a WHCA library where it will be available for reporters.

7. There shall be no contact between political advisors to the White House and reporters for the purpose of punishing members of the press for their coverage. If the White House has a complaint, it shall be made in writing by the press secretary and submitted to the White House Correspondents Association, with any remedy or admonishment to be made by the Association to the correspondent in question.

We should be able to see veins bulging visably on her forehead.

6. I've given up on CNN
Edited on Mon May-24-04 03:00 PM by Neecy
After watching CNN since its inception, I've stopped giving myself ulcers and just tuned out for good.

And why watch, anyway? I know they'll whore and spin and shill for Bush with increasing hysteria as election day nears.

Believe it or not, I can watch MSRNC without having my head explode every five seconds. At least they don't rub our faces in human flotsam in the unholy form of Woodruff, Schneider, Crowley and Blitzer. And their coverage of Kerry is a hell of a lot more balanced than CNN can dream of being. That's been my experience, anyway.

G'bye, CNN. It's nice living without ya.

10. yep
Some of their anchors tend to be a little smarmy, but there isn't one that jumps out at me as a total Bush whore. There isn't one of them who makes my stomach churn just to listen to for five seconds.

This is just their daytime news programming, they get much more whorish at night.

7. Tears in their eyes
Candy and Judy look as if they are about to Cry. Neither seem to be able to make complete constructive sentences today. Both stumbling on their words.

15. I have to feel sorry for her.
Oh, I don't like her and I despise the way she "reports".

She reminds me of the fat girl in my class.
Her name was Peggy, but in the Alabama accent it always sounded like Piggy.
I don't think she ever had a date. Didn't go to the prom. I think she had a fairly miserable life from first grade through college. I hope eventually her life turned out better.

Candy reminds me of her, except...at long last...she has an actual date. The President.
Somebody asked her to the prom.
"Oh mom, I TALKED to him yesterday. I was close enough to TOUCH him. He's so handsome and cute. He calls me Candy-Bar. I think because HIS mom's nickname is Bar. I'm SO flattered. I think he really, really likes me."
All the while, Bush* is nudging Rummy and saying "Get a load of that fat broad. What a piece of work. She LOVES me. Ha ha ha ha."

One Saturday she was on the CNN all babe "newsfest", whatever they call it.
Poor Candy stuck out like a sore thumb. The only thorn amongst all those sleek, svelte young women.
It was just sad.

13. Why keep torturing yourself?
Turn off CNN - I know it's hard!

On the short time I've been at DU, I've read more whining & complaining about her than almost any other commentator.
