I say we show the bush twins the same respect afforded Chelsea Clinton
by the right wing and the media....

http://au.news.yahoo.com/040524/11/p544.html

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House asked the media on Monday to "show respect" for President Bush's twin daughters as they emerge from private life as students to work for their father's re-election campaign.
There has sometimes been tension between Bush and the media over coverage of his daughters, Jenna and Barbara, especially when both of them had run-ins with the law over alcohol three years ago.

In an incident in Austin, Texas, in 2001, Barbara was sentenced to perform community service and attend an alcohol awareness class, while Jenna, who had been found with a false ID, was fine $600 and lost her driver's license for 30 days.

"We hope that the media will continue to show respect for the daughters and allow them to go about their lives,... and recognize that they are the president's daughters," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

He probably won't say a word about it. Fat hypocrite!

5. I say we not waste time, energy, and attention on sideshows

If George is deposed, the twins will go into well deserved obscurity unless they turn up on some internet video someday.

Why even risk getting them some sympathy that might transfer to Dubya ?

6. Fair is fair.
And after all, they've worked SO HARD to "earn" that respect. Just like daddy. ;-)

9. Ignore them!
It would only garner them sympathy and make any detractors seem mean spirited. Logic: anyone that purposefully becomes a public figure is fair game for scrutiny and criticism. That being said, it would only help Bushco if the daughters were maligned. In my view the statement by the WH Spin Doc is almost an invitation to attack them because it would help the Bushco goal.

10. Kerry's daughter is the one that got stupid in front of a camera---
but she's 30 years old and fair game.

Same for the Bush twins and Chelsea Clinton, they aren't little girls anymore.

11. How did Kerry's daughter get stupid? By wearing a STUNNING dress
that revealed a little nipple and a STUNNING body?

NOTHING to be ashamed of! She's a grown woman with a healthy self identity.

It was sexy. Nothing wrong with that.

Edit: And as best I can tell, Drudge is the only person in the world who thought that was "news" or a "story."

17. FYI
That material, unbeknownst to her, only did a "reveal" under the lighting conditions of a strobe flash.

There was no way to know it would become sheer when she bought it.

the Bush girls than Derbyshire was to Chelsea:

"But this is all rationalization. More than anything, I admit, I hate Chelsea because she is a Clinton. Not just genetically a Clinton, but in spirit and habit and manner. The evidence for this is now, I think, sufficient to indict. "

snip

"Chelsea is a Clinton. She bears the taint; and though not prosecutable in law, in custom and nature the taint cannot be ignored. All the great despotisms of the past — I'm not arguing for despotism as a principle, but they sure knew how to deal with potential trouble — recognized that the families of objectionable citizens were a continuing threat. In Stalin's penal code it was a crime to be the wife or child of an "enemy of the people". The Nazis used the same principle, which they called Sippenhaft, "clan liability". In Imperial China, enemies of the state were punished "to the ninth degree": that is, everyone in the offender's own generation would be killed, and everyone related via four generations up, to the great-great-grandparents, and four generations down, to the great-great-grandchildren, would also be killed. (This sounds complicated, but in practice what usually happened was that a battalion of soldiers was sent to the offender's home town, where they killed everyone they could find, on the principle neca eos omnes, deus suos agnoscet — "let God sort 'em out".)"

More here: derbyshire

Until they joined the campaign, the only reason I could see to mention them was to counter the myth of 'Publican family values. It was not their fault their father was selected president.

Now that they will try to help elect *, they look like fair game.

16. Are Jenna and Barbara in line with Daddy's views?
Has anything more come of that quote by one of the Bush daughters about not characterizing herself as a Republican? Would make for an interesting twist... maybe just more moderate than their pops...

18. Respect has to be earned
Therefore they don't deserve any more respect than other girls that the right wing Christians would categorize as whores, drunks, ungodly, and floooozies. They can't pick and chose whose indiscretions should not be mentioned.
