Fahrenheit 9/11… does this all remind you of “the Passion”.

In this the roles seem slightly reversed yet the whole issue with Moore’s latest work seems so similar to the controversy over “The Passion”.

I liked Bowling for Columbine, I found it really effecting.

I Liked the Passion, I found it Really effecting.

I look forward to seeing this lates work by Moore, but just for those who are outraged at the tepid reaction of many to this film, remember the outcry over “the passion” both seem to have a lot in common. A very principled, some would say radical and controversial film maker with a sense of mission, one extreme of the political “spitting blood” over the film and their perceived “take” on it….

Its just an observation, of course there are differences between the two, In subject and content, but in a broader sense don’t you think that the outcry from the extreme right over this film is very similar to the out cry from the extreme left over “the passion”… I just thought it was an interesting point.

In conclusion I think “the Passion” was good (not perfect) but good and effecting and ditto to “Bowling for Combine”… furthermore I look forward to seeing Fahrenheit 9/11 as I look forward to seeing the project that Gibson is considering as a follow up to “the Passion”.

1. yeah there are some similarities.
But then it's becoming the norm...whatever the marketing strategy is, the content of the movies offered is ultimately what we should judge.

Even The Day After Tomorrow is getting politics in motion. We're living an important battle of the minds in light of the upcoming elections.

2. a difference
In the case of "The Passion," the issue was whether ordinary people would be hurt by anti-semitism.

In the case of "Farenheit 9/11," the issue is whether Bush's chances at 4 more years will be diminished.

3. Big difference. One a ducumentary, one a mythological fantasy.
One true, one demagoguery.

4. Right!
I have every intention of seeing "Fahrenheit 9/11" but I have no intention to see "the passion".

8. How can you judge a film you have never seen...

...I was worried when i went to see "the passion" that it would be anti-Semitic and inaccurate with relation to the bible but i sat though it and was firstly stunned that it was not the grotesque, neo-Nazi picture that many had made it out to be and was in fact a very touching and effecting film. And as for allegations of Anti-Semitism that was complete crap imho... throughout the film their are Jewish characters who defend Jesus (and I am not talking about the disciples or Mary) and the crowd and the elite who condemn Jesus are never identified specifically as Jews.

I stick by my position I look forward to seeing "Fahrenheit 9/11" and further more I liked both "the Passion" and "Bowling for Columbine" ... balance is a wonderful thing... I really would advise you to go and see the passion with an open mind, simply because you would see that the horror stories that you have heard are incorrect just as the horror stories about folks like Moore and others on the left propagated by the right are also wrong and inaccurate... I think people should really experience a thing before they judge it... but hey call me crazy :)

5. I'm not sure the "outcry" against "the Passion" came from leftist
extremists. Many rabbis registered their objection to the film.

6. What was different about The Passion's controversy...
...was that while there were some generalized splits across 'sectarian' lines, it wasn't exclusively so. There were honest discussions about the issue in a number of venues.

With Farenheit 9/11, it's pretty much BushCo (and affliates) versus the entire rest of the planet.
