4. Agreed also
Excellent and insightful. And very true. Janet Jackson's 1/2 second of naked boob is a huge scandal, but terrible abuses and killing, well, those are ok as long as it's 'bad guys'. Scary.

5. Good people ? Bad people
" I hope we can get back one of these days to a responsible, honest, and usefully complex understanding of good and evil. I hope, someday, public policy and public discourse will be founded on a shared believe in the value of human life and human dignity rather than one sect's tendentious and self-serving interpretation of one book." pa

Until last Sunday, I gave Fundamentalists the benefit of the doubt that they at least believed in basic Christian principles like "love your neighbor", "love your enemies". That even if they didn't practice them, that they were a part of their morality.

Well I found out I was wrong.

At least some give themselves freedom to hate and kill by coming up with such theologies as "the unsaved are dead already"...so it doesn't matter what we do to them. And other nonsense.

If some people would just get back to the basic ideas of their religion, the world would be a lot better off. The value of human life and human dignity would be a good place to start.

6. Priceless line
My favorite quip in the article is:

After all - and this is a verbatim quote from Kimmitt - "Bad people have parties too."

Well, Kimmitt is right. Bad people do have parties. We're reminded of that every time we read about one of Bush's $2,000 a plate fund-raisers.
