Sending my son off to his 3rd Iraq Trip was... |
|
quite an experience. Thank you DU family for the lovely messages and caring thoughts.
My son (actually, step son) re-enlisted. I love him as if he was my own son and maybe more because he is so hard to reach. He is angry, unhappy, negative, blunt and uses abusive language. Not once did I hear him say one kind word to his wife nor to his 4 beautiful girls. I was shaking in my boots myself. He runs his house like boot camp. His wife is ultra religious and to the point of sounding insane.
My oldest grand daughter told me that George Bush was a good president because he's a christian. I felt such tremendous sadness. I hugged her tight and rocked her in my arms. The lies that come out of this child's mouth is horrifying.
We were not allowed to listen to the news because all the channels are broadcasting lies about george bush. I read the newspaper inside our camper because they have also banned newspapers from their house.
Well, may God keep my son in his tavels. Thank you all.

1. wow, his third deployment to Iraq! |
|
and I thought one was hard enough. If I didn't know better, I'd ask if your step-son was one of my husband's NCO's. Sounds just like him. I hope for his safe return.

5. You have my sincere condolences. |

Truly. It must be heart-wrenching to have to see your son not only being in mortal danger but espousing a world-view so diametrically opposed to your own.

6. Your grand daughters are so fortunate to have you. |
|
The love you are giving them is the only possible answer to their terrible confusion and unhappiness. It won't solve things for them, but it will be a strength for them to draw on.
Wishing strength and safety to all of you.

7. My condolences to you , sir |

I couldn't feel worse for you if you said your son had joined the Nazi Party (which in many ways...he has).
Just be careful, because when Crunch Time comes, I have no doubt your Stepson would turn your Traitorous Liberal Ass in in a New York Minute.
Sorry, gotta call it like I see it.

Do they homeschool the children? Hopefully they have some outside influence to counter the brain washing.

11. Kids were doing well in public school....but |
|
they felt that the girls (two oldest in school only) needed to be with christian students only. They now attend an all white christian school. I felt such a hidden racist tone behind the whole thing. The girls often talked about dark skin kids in a negative tone. I think that comes from the mother. My son interacts with all his military buddies, most dark skin Americans.
My oldest grand daughter told me that she's only allowed to play and be friends to christian kids. I guessing, meaning white only. They are so confused about religion. She told me that I'm her best grandma, and that even though I'm not a christian, I act like a christian. Meaning, I love them very much. I told her that she meant that I'm a good person, but only God can know if I'm a good christian. Only God can see inside our hearts. I hope I planted a small seed to goodness. They have two other non-participant blood grand mothers.

It all sounds so sad. I'm afraid we are creating some tough cookies with our war. When I say tough cookies I mean some mental basket cases. I sure hope that I'm wrong. Keep holding the mother and kids tight. Try to help them with the situation. Bless them Remember that all of the casualties of war are not physical.
