Assemblyman Jonathan Bing recently kicked off his campaign with a street clean-up project and a press conference on gun control. Bing has pledged to continue pressing the policies he advocated for after his first election to the 73rd Assembly District in Manhattan. "Education, Arts & Cultural funding, rent control - things that affect residents, all need money from the state." Post 9/11 Bing fought for the rights of his constituents by organizing over 250 lawyers to provide free legal services to New Yorkers affected by the attack on the World Trade Center.

Wednesday, candidate for Salt Lake County mayor Peter Corroon introduced a two-part plan and full investigation toward responsible use of county vehicles, eliminating abuse and waste, saving tax dollars, and improving efficiency of county government in Utah. At a record setting 1,500 person rally, Corroon recently took 70 percent of the county convention vote, winning the local democratic party's support for his outspoken of criticism of the area's special interest dominated energy policy. "We don't need our county to run like a mini-Enron," Corroon said.

Alisha Thomas Morgan was awarded the Joe Mack Wilson People's Champion Award earlier this month for her work advocating for those who may not otherwise have had a voice. Fighting to block an amendment banning gay marriage in the Georgia House of Representatives earlier this spring, Rep. Alisha Thomas Morgan told her colleagues, "how is it when you talk about less government, you want to talk about what people can do? <...> I urge you to have some guts," she told her colleagues. "Have some courage."
