Help people in Maryland fighting Diebold.
Help people in Maryland fighting Diebold.

They got the state Senate to pass a bill for voter-verifiable paper ballots, but a DEMOCRAT in the state House named Sheila Hixson shelved it.

TrueVoteMD's effort to ensure the integrity of the vote in Maryland was blocked by conference committee members of the House of Delegates. A bill requiring a voter-verified paper trail, along with random audits on election day, passed the Maryland Senate by a unanimous vote of 45 to 0. In the House, Delegate Sheila Hixson, Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, turned a bill with the same requirements into a task force to study well beyond the imperative 2004 election. Knowledgable legislators indicated that the task force was designed to "kill the bills" and "failed to include the any of the dozens of sponsors of the paper trail bill."

It really hurts when we are betrayed by one of our own.

Relief in the courts is unlikely, and poll monitors can't do a damn
thing about voter fraud when it is programmed into the machines and
there are no ballots.

This is Not Good. We were counting on Maryland. Can we win without it?
