Shouldn't our threat level be elevated to code orange now?

Just out of curiosity, I went to the homeland security website and according to them, we're still on code yellow.

How can this be with all the doom and gloom Ashcroft barked about? Hell, I remember when we were on orange alert every other week when the Bush admin was attempting to persuade the country that we should attack Iraq because they were an "immenent threat". Interesting how times have changed.

It's the watch-for-wires-hanging-out, funny-smelling-people, fists-clenched kind of yellow. You have to stare at it...give it a few minutes. :crazy:

or should I just wait for orange? And what about the plastic? When do I get to go out and buy yards of plastic????

I will go over the colors one more time. *Please* try to remember.

Green -- Democrats aren't watching. Time to cut taxes.

Yellow -- Iraq war not going well. Watch for shifty-eyed dark-skinned people, or anyone chanting 'Death to America'.

Dark Yellow -- Repubs down in polls. Watch your back, they could be anywhere. Keep an eye out for people trailing wires, etc. You can buy plastic now, if you like.

Orange -- Sharp spike in "chatter" (at RNC headquarters) indicates senior admin figures implicated in Abu Ghraib scandal, Valerie Plame leak. Look under bed, in closet. Watery eyes may indicate anthrax (consult your doctor).

Red -- Repubs buried in polls. If you're on the road, stop your car, get out, and lay in a ditch. If at home, close all windows and windowshades, and weep quietly in the corner. Don't forget to vote tomorrow.

No matter how many times I hear these people talking about that inane color-coding system, I still can't believe they take it (or themselves) seriously.
