AFRS relies on Congressional funding...your Congressman/woman can bottle that up and force them to play old Yamfir CDs.

Actually I don't mind if they run an hour of the Oxybrain (which is what most stations do), as long as they also make available a similar program from other political dynamics including Tavis Smiley, Talk Of The Nation, even Terri Gross...as well as a Randi Rhodes/Ed Schultz/Al Franken.

The AFRS is supposed to be non-partisan and bring a wide selection of American radio programming to our forces...it'd be nice to take a closer look at what is being aired and the people who can do that are on Capitol Hill. If there's a problem with those people, we've got a great chance to make some big changes up ahead...helping local Democratic Congressional campaigns!

I remember when I was in Germany, the big issue was over Al Joyner's show. Many Whites thought he was a racist pig. But the Black soliders (mostly) loved his show, and AFRS kept him on the air. Good call I thought.

9. Let's Get Dobson Off AFRS

Tom Joyner's show is a hidden gem in our arsenal, and you bet many blacks listen to it religiously. Glad its on AFRS. And yes, let 'em have Fatboy as well.

One I do object to is Dobson's "Feces On Your Family" crap. First, he's not a REAL doctor, he's a preacher, and a wacko one at that. As long as he advocates religion in his messages he violates the seperation of church & state government-funded broadcasting must adhear to. He operates a tax-exempt foundation that runs this program, thus is a tax cheat as well.

Nothing wrong with religious programming at specified times, but strictly billed as such...not as "commentary"; how Dobson attempts to package his diatribes. Plus there are plenty of religious stations all around the world and the dial blabbing this wingbag.

18. I agree with your assessment of Tom Joyner

He is often dismissed when talking about liberal radio, perhaps because he appeals mostly to a black audience. But I listen to his show occasionally, and he is far from conservative.

I definitely recomment tuning in sometime, if he's on in your town.

to fund Democratic politicians who protect working people! Now it seems that We are ALL paying for Rush to preach the GOP party line to the troops! The Republican's argument against the unions funding democrats is, "Everyone who pays union dues does not wish to have their dues money, pay for and support Democrats and the Democratic party platform!" Now we see that the Repig DoD uses everyone's tax dollars to fund and promote the HARD right wing platform(neo-con)and the Republican politicians!

The churches fund right wing politics with everyone's tithe money and offerings to the churches, yet they remain tax exempt, but the unions are now forced to pay taxes, because they fund politicians?????????*****What is wrong with those pictures!

It's this taxation with total misrepresentation that we need to throw the next fucking tea party over!

Don't they get a say in what they want to hear? I just turned off AFRS whenever he came on, but he was popular with a lot of the people I worked with. I think he was more than balanced by guys like Tom Joyner (who has a much better show IMHO).

Along about #4000.. It gets "dittoed". But, aren't they in fact just adding names to the petiton, even if their copmments say "I want gay porn"? So, in fact they are building a stronger case for removal?
