Will Bush* still take a month long vacation in August?
They are saying they have credeble evidence that America will be attacked by terrorists within the next few months. How can he justify going on vacation while America is in danger. He must know we need his steady hand at the helm to defend us from terra.

1. I doubt it.
But not because of terror threats -- but rather because August is 2-3 months before the election. It's also the month after the Dem convention, when Kerry will be limited by public money and * will still be able to spend his private contributions.

4. He can use Crawford as a base for campaign trips....
And cut down on that useless spare time at the White House.

12. Not campaign trips - Presidential visits.
That way, we get to keep paying for them.

7. Of course he will!
Why should he start caring about anything now? He will still campaign, but his base will be the ranch.

I'll be very surprised if I'm wrong on this one.

his fear of ponies. Never got over a kick to the head and never been the same.

17. I've seen a vision but I don't know how to do photo shop to bring
it to life! I keep seeing Shrub's primate head on Pee-Wee Herman's bike with Pee-Wee's body! I know it would be elegant on a t-shirt, cause I seen one in my vision! I saw ten million of them on DUers marching past the large lock boxes with the GOPer mobsters on public display for everyone to tease and poke fun at! Then I had to wake up and go Wee-Wee and missed the end of the vision! Needless to say, I was aroused when I was aroused by my bladder!

18. nothing will stop him from going on vacation
I believe that he began that vacation in August tradition when he knew that an attack was likely and did not want to stay in the likely place, Washington DC and be in harm's way.

Now, he has had, over the years to keep up the tradition , so that there will not be that connection or even the appearance there was any other reason to go to Crawford, except to take a vacation--in over one hundred degree heat in August. LOL

So he has to keep up the appearances. No doubt Crawford is as secure and tight as anything in Washington, or even moreso. No doubt the entire 1,600 acres of dry scrub, is wired, full of surveillance cameras every two feet, and every other state of the art equitment and probably an underground bunker besides.

21. Easier to plan dirty tricks there
I have had a gut feeling all along that, as you say, Bush *knew* that an attack was imminent, and likely to strike NYC or DC, so he hid his monkey ass in Crawford.

I think also that Crawford is FAR more "secure" than Washington, where there are so many eyes and ears to keep secrets from. Too many pesky "bureaucrats" harping on you to take action against threats, etc, who are unable to think outside the box as to how an attack is actually beneficial to America in the long run by providing an opportunity for America to assert global dominance in order to protect its homeland.

The month long vacation in 2001 was so contrived. I remember all the ranting in the press and elsewhere about how Bush was lazy -- when, in fact, he may have been a very very busy little bee.

Also -- there was more than an imminent attack on US soil on Bush's mind that August -- please recall that Israel/Palestine had been exploding into violence for months, and had reached a hysterical crescendo of horror, with dozens dying every day. BUSH DID NOTHING! Not a word, not a diplomat sent -- NOTHING! When Ari Fleischer was questioned after a particularly deadly day, he said, pretty much -- you've seen one suicide bomber, you've seen them all. He said that such events happened so regularly that the adminstration did not really get worked up about them. Unbelieveable! I suspected then and Richard Clarke and Paul O'Neill have confirmed, that Bush had a deliberate policy of letting Israel/Palestine go to hell. LIHOP/MIHOP, in my view. They were after eliciting a certain public response regarding Israel, that would "soften up" Americans to a plan for intensified Israeli aggression against Palestinians. All part of the PNAC plan....

He vacationed through some of the most turbulent times of his presidency.

Have you ever seen a headline that said, "President Bush cuts short vacation to deal with......"???
