I think you're right, but I don't know the legal details. IMHO, I think Governor Richardson of New Mexico would be an excellent pick.

5. yes, he can't be ELECTED president, but he can be vp
and in case anything happens to the president he can become president. because he wouldn't actually have been elected president at that point.
