Why do so many people on DU glorify Republicans? |
|
Edited on Fri May-28-04 11:12 PM by saywhat
I have to read post after post glorifying McCain, or polls asking who is the most respectable Republican. WHO THE F**K CARES? Get a grip people. Forget about the Repukes, and start concentrating on our candidate and making this country a civilized and decent place to live in again. I think the reduced participation I have noticed on this site is due to all the emphasis on REPUKES. What is going on here? And can we get beyond it?
edited to specify what I'm talking about!

1. IMHO-Republicans are a part of this country and |
|
we have to work with them to accomplish anything. Unfortunatelly, the republican party has been hijaked by the neo-cons. The real republicans need to take their party back.

12. Republicans want to be the Only ones in this country |
|
You're right the real Republicans need to take their party back, there's just one little problem. Their greed, and the fact that the budget cutting of domestic/social programs is one of their key planks.
So they will keep the neo-cons and let them get the dirty work done, besides most Republicans don't think of Democrats as being Americans, much less part of the country.
Remember we Democrats are unpatriotic, traitors, we should all be killed. I know that these names come from the talking heads like Limpballs, Hannity, Coulter, and Weener, but I don't recall the regular Republicans ever coming out and defending their "fellow" Americans.
As for me until the "real" Republicans stand up and say that we are all Americans, and turn their backs on Limpballs and company, they are and will remain the ENEMY!!!!
If given the choice between working with Democrats or keeping the neo-cons the Republicans will keep the neo-cons.

6. well that's just GROSS |
|
but, back to the subject
the reason we have to focus on the Republicans is because we have to drive HOME the fact that they have HIJACKED the country at least the neo-cons have and, after all, they are RUNNING EVERYTHING and RUINING everything
not that preaching to the choir is especially useful and here, that's what it would be...
between THIS forum and Randi Rhodes at least we now have a VOICE I am so grateful

I feel is not clearly understood. There are many people who confuse who the real enemy is. It is the Neocons, not the Republicans. The Neocons have seduced their way into power through the Republican party, and it seems that now, finally, some of the Republicans are waking up to that fact. Don't go just by what people say...look for yourselves. There are Republicans who don't parrot the Neocon edict of the day. They are the ones you don't see on Fux, or have leading roles in congress, or party politics. A true conservitive Republican does not agree with bigger government, runaway deficits, saving the world from the evildoers, a more intrusive federal police force, or making the executive branch the only branch of government that counts. Pat Buchanan , who does have extremely repugnant views on morality and social issues, would easily pass as a Democrat when speaking about the puppet regime we have had foisted on us.
Don't be fooled....There are good people who are also Republicans.
There ARE no good neocons.

They're pretty much ALL assholes.
They quit being gentlemen long ago.
There are very few who aren't completely corrupt and venal.

10. I think we are trying to focus on those who continue to warp and twist |
|
the truth in a misguided competition to display loyalty to a psychotic captain charging the whole ship to the depths of hell.
These Republican yes men and women are clinging to the climate of fear created by 9-11 and stoking the fires at every opportunity. They justify a war most of them know to be wrong and the "leader" who got us there. They hold a dangerous influence on a pliant populace. This is why we can't stand them. They know what they are doing but they are too morally bankrupt to care.
So many in America are complacent, weary or lazy. They are tired of bad news and they are too apathetic to care how it got there or who is responsible. This is their prime sowing ground and it is wide and long.

Not now, not ever. I have no respect for the Rat-publican party. As far as I'm concerned, they are now the personification of evil in this country. They have all banded together and represent the forces of greed, death, mercenaries, extractive mentality and sexual perversion in the US.
Any rim-publican who chooses to stay can blame himself.

criminals and liars and thugs who control it, we need as many honorable, decent people as we can to be on our side.
Now, the FReepers say tnat WE are all DUmmies, that we are all venal and evil and scummy.
WE are not like the FReepers. We don't dehumanize our enemy so that we can call them whatever we like, and think of ourselves as superior to them. Or are we just FReepers with a different name?
I don't think so. Like another poster said, there are good people who are also Republicans, and if we can get them to see things our way, get them to nod and say "yes, yes," then we'll win this thing and get our country back.
It's not a matter of "glorifying" anybody. It's about thinking strategically, rather than reacting with gut hatred.

"I don't recall the regular Republicans ever coming out and defending their "fellow" Americans."
McCain stuck up for J. Kerry and so did others when Kerry was attacked regarding his Military Service.
All Republcans are not evil. 99.99% maybe. Their party was taken over by Neocons and the Christian Right Wingers.
As a Green Party member I hope the Dems win the election and can take back both houses. Sure, I would like to see more Greens in office locally, state wide and Nationally. We still need to work with Republicans as much as it would be painful.
