4. Where did that quote come from?
It would be a great rebuttal to the Kelli Arena report on CNN that cited some anonymous observers who speculate that al Qaeda would more easily take over Iraq if Kerry got elected.

Purported al Qaeda letter calls truce in Spain
By Opheera McDoom
CAIRO (Reuters)

(Snip)

WE WANT BUSH TO WIN

The statement said it supported U.S. President George W. Bush in his reelection campaign, and would prefer him to win in November rather than the Democratic candidate John Kerry, as it was not possible to find a leader "more foolish than you (Bush), who deals with matters by force rather than with wisdom."

In comments addressed to Bush, the group said:

"Kerry will kill our nation while it sleeps because he and the Democrats have the cunning to embellish blasphemy and present it to the Arab and Muslim nation as civilisation."

"Because of this we desire you (Bush) to be elected."

17. Ashcroft validates this group as Al Qaeda.
Ashcroft: Al-Qaeda plans U.S. attacks
By Kevin Johnson and Mimi Hall, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — Attorney General John Ashcroft cited "credible intelligence from multiple sources" Wednesday indicating that terrorists plan to "hit the United States hard" in the next few months. He expressed concern that some operatives may already be in the USA preparing to strike.
<snip>
Instead, Ashcroft cited claims, published after a train bombing in Madrid killed 191, that al-Qaeda's plans for new attacks in the USA were 90% complete.

MEMRI: The Alleged Al-Qa'ida Statement of Responsibility for the Madrid Bombings
MEMRI ^ | March 12, 2004 | Yigal Carmon

Posted on 03/12/2004 10:30:25 AM PST by yonif

On March 12, 2004, the pro-Saddam pro-bin Laden London daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi(1) published the alleged statement by the Abu Hafs Al-Masri Brigades of Al-Qa'ida, in which the brigades claimed to be responsible for the March 11, 2004 bombings in Madrid.

It should be noted that the Abu Hafs Al-Masri Brigades claimed responsibility for the August 2003 blackout in the U.S. (which was a large-scale technical failure), calling it "Operation Quick Lightning in the Land of the Tyrant of This Generation."(2)

The following is the translation of the statement, followed by commentary:
<snip>
"We say to those who killed the clerics of the Muslim Sunnis in Iraq to stop, or else... and we promise the Muslims in the world that the strike of the Winds of Black Death (the anticipated strike on America) is now in its last phase . (It is) 90% (complete), Allah willing... Soon (when it suits the Jihad warriors), the believers will rejoice at Allah's victory.

(sorry for the link, but freepers post the whole article)

news.yahoo.com

In a statement sent to the Arabic language daily al-Hayat, the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades, which claimed responsibility for the Madrid bombings that killed 201 people, also urged its European units to stop all operations.
"Because of this decision, the leadership has decided to stop all operations within the Spanish territories... until we know the intentions of the new government that has promised to withdraw Spanish troops from Iraq," the statement said.

The statement said it supported President Bush in his reelection campaign, and would prefer him to win in November rather than the Democratic candidate John Kerry, as it was not possible to find a leader "more foolish than you (Bush), who deals with matters by force rather than with wisdom."

In comments addressed to Bush, the group said: "Kerry will kill our nation while it sleeps because he and the Democrats have the cunning to embellish blasphemy and present it to the Arab and Muslim nation as civilization."
"Because of this we desire you (Bush) to be elected."

(the article only seems to exist on message boards now)

Ashcroft thinks, or at least says, that this group is Al Qaeda. Which also means he thinks, or says, that they caused the east coast blackout, which they also claimed. I don't know, but I always wondered about the "coincidence" of US and UK blackouts happening almost the same time. Then again, maybe it's tinfoil hat time for me.

9. Of Course Osama Would Prefer Bush
I would have to assume that Osama would want Bush elected in 2004. After all, Bush has proved to be no threat to Osama so far, why would he want to take his chances with a new President? Osama would have to prefer an ineffective enemy that he can play any time he wants to a new and unknown force that of used effectively could annihilate him in a heartbeat.

10. Osama couldn't care less...
I don't believe he personalizes the issue the way we do. I don't think he has any animosity to us as people, but more as us as a decadent and dangerous culture.

12. Didn't the Bin Ladens donate cash to the Bush campaign?
Or was that Poppy they gave money to? Didn't the Bin Ladens help bail out one of Dumbya's oil companies? The Shrub KKKlan has a long history of Trading With The Enemy, I read somewhere! Didn't George Jr. give the Taliban several million dollars right before the attack on 9/11? Didn't the Taliban meet with the Bush family it texas in 1999 to talk about building some oil and gas pipelines through Afghanistan? It looks like to me Bush and crew have a lot more to do with Osama and his pals than John Kerry ever did! It also looks like Kerry didn't make his money on shady insider trading like W and his brother did!

13. Who cares what Osama wants?
I don't. I'll happily cast my vote for Kerry who I believe is far better suited to lead our country. Osama wants Bush. Osama wants Kerry. A vote for Kerry is a vote for Al Qaida. Blah, blah, blah.

Speculation from pols and pundits about who the terrorists want should not concern any of us. The Osama quote is interesting but of little relevence to me.

We're going to be hearing a lot of "Kerry is weak on terrorism" or "A vote for Kerry is a vote for Osama" from the right wingers. We shouldn't pay attention to their drivil any more than Osama's.

.....demonised, labeled 'irrelevant', 'traitors' 'supporters of terrorism' or 'tools of the USA'......depending on the source.

Soon enough even the most pacific will see violence as the only remedy............and the lunatics will have won.
