Wow...Only three women had an Op/Ed column |
|
in the NY Times. This is from an interview in 1993 with Anna Quinlan on CSPAN2. I haven't checked in the last 11 years, but how many more have columns. Women are silenced.

1. I don't know the answer to that question, |
|
but your sig image reminds me of how our local piece of crap newspaper, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, printed the March story on the third page, but put a human-interest story about Evangelicals and their struggles to freely practice their faith on the FIRST page. Never printed my letter of complaint which I copied out to a load o'folks, some of whom signed and sent it in to the propagandistic rag too.
Come to think of it, our local Alternative newspaper, Rochester City Newspaper which has some very fine women writing there, used to publish a misogynistic film reviewer. Several years and many complaints to the editor later, he "left", to the sound of great sadness on the part of the editor. No apology whatsoever was ever printed to any of the women (including me) who wrote in about his egregiously sexist reviews. Comradely letters from the editor DID run in response to the few MEN who wrote in to say they missed him, after that reviewer left. :wtf:
They also run an ad for "Project Rachel", a Catholic run ministry "for women hurting after abortion" No Planned Parenthood ads, though.... again, :wtf:
Maybe I should copy this and send it to them...

2. Sometimes I think we have come so far |

and too many times I'm astounded at the misogyny. Keep at the local paper. Eventually, you will win. :hi:
