Terror alerts and *'s approval rating
So I spent about three minutes doing this, the orange lines are (yep) Orange Alerts being issued. Anyone with better skills want to do this better? I'm not seeing a pattern.

1. looks to me like
he tanked after the 1st, 3rd, and 4th orange alerts.

I don't know if it means anything, though.

Wait till we get to red. That's when martial law is declared, the election is cancelled - or postponed indefinitely . . . and the revolution begins.

3. I see a slight tendency...
for his approval rating to drop *after* the alerts are issued (might explain why they're reluctant to raise it now), which happened every time except for when the war started, when I guess people were rallying around him.

His disapproval ratings seem unaffected, though. Or maybe there's a slight uptick, most times.

Any real effect is short lived though and more dependent on other things.

I don't see they've been calling alerts based on a drop numbers. I do sense that they're attempting to "change the subject," but don't have any proof about that.

4. Obviously, the terror alerts
are not helping W's approval ratings. The only time he went up after an alert and stayed up, was in the run up to the Iraq Invasion. Otherwise, it just goes down. He even blew his bump from the capture of Saddam by pulling an alert a couple of days later. LOL.

I wonder what the figure look like from last weeks little terror non-alert, alert?

7. perhaps terror alerts should be graphed against actual terrorist attempts
But that'd just expose them as the politically motivated distractions they are.
