What do you think of Chuck D? He impresses me a lot. as a needed voice |

Chuck D, rapper from the group Public Enemy, and now a co-host on Air America in the mid-moring Unfiltered.
He's the kind of voice that's really needed. He seems adept at briding several of the divides in America, including the racial cultural gap and values gap between bling-bling and real politics.
I liked his songs like "Fight the Power" but I didn't know much about him personally. His music was always political, and had a power on a gut level. But I must admit, his image as an angry rapper made it difficult to appreciate him as an individual.
But I've become a real fan of him on Unfiltered. He's smart and -- unlike his angry image -- has a really great grasp of the human side of politics and society. And he seems like a real down-to-earth guy rather than some bling-bling star or rhetoric-spouting radical.

1. I listen to him every morning... |
|
I really like the style of 'Unfiltered'. It reminds me of some of the politics/news shows on WORT, locally. :)
I think Unfiltered is probably one of my favorite shows on Air America. It's intelligent, there's no yelling, and it's chock full of information!

2. Only listened a few times |
|
I've only listened a few times as I was running out for errands at lunchtime, I've only caught the tail end of the show and it seems he barely gets a word in edgewise, but the times he did, he seemed to make very good points.

5. Unfiltered is a great show |
|
I wake up at 6am PST and listen to Democracy now for an hour , Then it's Air America for the rest of the day . I watched the Al Gore speech on T.V. but other than that the T.V. is shut off .
I thank Goodness for my Liberal Radio .

but I couldn't say about the radio show, for some reason KPOJ doesn't carry it, opting for Ed Schultz instead.

through the music of Public Enemy i was exposed to a range of ideas and emotions that i would not have otherwise come in contact with as a suburban white boy. I have never really thought of him as an "angry" person, i have always preceived him as and level-headed guy. naturally i was excited to hear that he would be involved with Air America Radio. He does a great job and he is my favorite personality.
rock on Chuck D!

one of the few rappers who really never did go mainstream, and never sold the message down the river.

12. He does seem to have a lot of integrity |
|
That's one of the things I find appealing. It isn't just political integrity. he seems to have basic integrity as a person.

is one of my favorite host on AAR, but I've been a fan of Public Enemy for over a decade. Unfiltered also has a great mix of politics, activist causes and entertainers.
