I just finished "Fortunate Son" Biography of George W Bush
You all know it..The Book they Burned!!! Very good read and interesting. It shows Bush, at least up until the presidential election as being suprisingly politically adept, and savy. It also paints the picture of him being what he is. A Product of his fathers name and connections...A Good read nontheless.

1. I know nothing about this book, who wrote it?
...Was it an authorized biography? Is it well sourced or just the author's opinions?

2. That book should have a music chip in it
that plays CCR's song every time you open the cover. *lol*

3. I read it a while ago.
Found a pile of them at Half Price Books when it was supposedly unavailable.

Much has been made of hints of his youthful hijinks. But the more important part is his job & financial history. Links with BCCI, the bin Ladin's (before they were famous)--& general business skullduggery. This stuff is rather dry but well documented by the author & worth reading.

7. Wow, I'm shocked
First off, out of 38 reader reviews, only one negative review (typical freeper response).

And the author committed suicide.

5. The problem with that book
is that it has the stigma of "liberal hatchet job" attached to it just because it comes from an independent publisher. People don't realize that it was first published by a major publisher until the Right cried foul and made them stop printing it. It's still an excellent read, even though it's a few years old, a long time for a political book.

6. The story is more complicated than that
Hatfield, the author, had a past criminal record involving an attempted bombing. He kept it under his hat, but the facts eventually got out to the press.

There's a great documentary on his last days on the planet. Very, very sad stuff and it doesn't show a man who had it all together. There's been a lot of critical commentary about some of his research methods, and while he did get a lot right, there's some stuff in there that's highly suspect. Take with a big grain of salt some of the more outlandish stuff.

8. I didn't know all that.
So the author is dead? And what is the more outlandish stuff you're talking about?

9. From what I understand
some of Bush's sexual exploits as mentioned in the book.

I'm not saying that it's not a good book, but just do some searches into the book before you buy it all hook, line and sinker. There's been some great examinations of the information by left-wing sources.
